3.1864 BB Napoleon III 20 Francs I already own this type, but I bought it because it was close to spot

I bought this by selling some of my silver to take advantage of the 5% ebay bucks promotion. I was able to win the auction slightly cheaper than expected since the sellers photo was horrible.

It's fascinating to compare the color of the Charles X coin with previous versions. According to an old newspaper article from 1901, Gold coins from Napoleon I and Louis XVIII are more yellowish due to it's high silver content in the alloy. There is an error in this article because 10 Franc gold coin didn't existed before Nap III.
You can also see the difference when comparing Gold Eagles / Krugerrands.

The 20 Perpera does not have LMU specs.
There are a fewtypes which are alot rarer than the 20 Franga albania.

Hi,
Having checked..it looks like I paid double spot for the 1927 20 Franga, and more for the lower grade 1926 (I overpaid maybe for this coin). On the plus side, I only paid 20% above spot for my 1888, and that is looking like a great pick up:-
I do not own a 20 Perpera. I’m only collecting Peruvian Una Libras currently.

The 20 Franga carry a large premium..but my goodness they are worth it. I have a large, and diverse coin collection, and without a doubt...the finest coins in my collection are my two Skanderbegus
They do come up for auction quite frequently...I bought one from Goldberg’s and one from Greece... Although expensive, I do think they are worth every cent.
