I am hoping the book contains details of the French engravers and their marks...I came across a very poor photo on my internet travels the other day, and have a hunch it came from this book.
Depending on how extensive the list of engravers is, it might be my next collecting project...a coin from each engraver after the revolution of 1789!
Still waiting to receive the1879 20 Francs Genie I bought on 1st of March...unfortunately, Colissimo (French post) in there wisdom, appear to have sent it to Abidjan 😞 ..to save you looking it up it’s in THE IVORY COAST!!!!!
The only saving grace is the dealer if currently being very good about it, and did insure the coin 😃
Just a few days ago I was also researching about the french engravers and mint symbols.... and I only found very bad pictures and information. Looks like this catalogue from gadoury is quite good, that catalogue in english would be really cool.
Hopeing your 20 Francs will arrive some day.

That book translated into english as pdf file would be awesome
Btw I have Krause Mishler Katalogues 1701-1800, 1801-1900, 1901-2000 as PDF, if someone is interested let me know.

There were a few rare coins like a 20 Lire 1848 for example. I had my eyes on 10 Carolin Sweden, which is equivalent to 10 Francs, but i was outbid...got to me more patient then...
-
I saw that coin, but didn't bid on it since I have one already
Pictures of it on page 9.

Roostered out 😬.
Yea the Angels are also nice and there are enough dates so that you aren't completed too fast
I wish you the most fun collecting.
-
I have problems photographing my coins. The quality isn't as good as I want it. I am also using a mobile phone. Thank you for showing that product and the result. I think I will order something similar.
What about the 10 Franc Roosters. Do you consider collecting them also ?
-
-
WOW thats a nice date set. On the first look the coin at the position of the 1905 looked like a 1903 but by enlarging it I could recognize it's a 5.
I also have a few but didn't set myself the goal to complete them. Might do that some day, but only until 1907
How about starting a date set of the 10 Francs Rooster now that you have the 20's complete ?

Looks like you are awaiting a shipment from France I also really love this thread and the lmu's.
The Angels are really nice.
Here 2 angels, one with anchre Barre and one with simple. The difference can only be seen under a strong magnifying glass.

Even if a buyer got their email address through to me I would be paranoid it was an eBay undercover agent
On UK listings if it’s a business seller, you just have to scroll down to the seller details and the phone number and external email address are visible anyway. I don’t think a lot of buyers realise this.
You are soo right with your second sentence!

Sellers are taking a real risk of getting their accounts suspended if dealing outside of eBay. If you’ve got their external email then it’s no problem but using the eBay messaging system to ask them to contact you by email is risky. I’ve been a business seller on eBay for 10 years (not precious metals) and if someone asked me via an eBay message to contact them by email I would politely refuse. It’s not worth losing my account and ebays filters are much better at picking this stuff up from the message system.
I almost agree. The risk is on the account who tries to avaiod the filters, so if you as buyer manage to send your email adress, ebay cant proove that you have used that info to contact him outside. Ofcourse it's best do find out dealers email or phone number without messaging via ebay. For me both ways worked plenty of times

I think I may have looked at it, If was on at £199!.A few at the same price from the same seller!
Tried to buy a 20 francs coin of a dealer in Israel (Ebay) this week...he was open to offers, so I offered 5% below asking price and he refused!! Some people!! Anyway, I’m still playing with my Gruffalos...!
Some people build in more room for negociation than others. I've got some tipps for you guys how to buy coins cheap from ebay. Have a look at this link:

Patience pays! A complete collection is boring, to have a goal to achieve is more fun. Within a period of a few years it should be possible to find many nice coins close to spot..also Angels...

Angels are getting harder to source at reasonable premiums. Got to wait for spot to go down but it’s my next buy followed by the Tunisia 20fr.
I stil have one tunisian waiting for you Remember there are several different types but only 2 of them are affordable. 1891-1902 and 1903-1906

Hey thanks for welcoming me here. I've deleted the shortcut for bad language. I've also started with the cheap ones just seen as a cheap way to buy smal gold coins. But then I started to like them and the premiums I pay are getting higher and higher. Now I have about 50 different types without varieties and it's getting quite expensive.
