  1. i know memorial sovereign-s have been discussed widely already, but i d like to deepen a particular aspect; having the 2 different sovereigns (memorial and the forthcoming coronation) a similar mintage (lets say 20.000) i wonder how PF70 can perform in the future as of today NGC claims more than 400 memorial in PF70. I guess PCGS numbers would be similar. Lets say 1000 pieces in total get PF70 (5% of total, but this is un underestimation as more and more will be sent to slab in the future). A lot always available in the market (next CC premium auction has five pieces in PF70). too many to make this a rarity, too many to see a serious increase in their value. I understand these will be a must for every collector (i myself own a memorial sov, and i ll get a coronation) but i dont really see a real bargain here on commercial side. RM just minted too many.
  2. so at the end of the day is it confirmed the 2023 proof sovereing-s will have the very same obverse and reverse of the Coronation Sotd?
  3. thanks dad! i just dont remember where my inheritance box is...😝
  4. i found today a 5500 gbp bargain, with a 20 second research. thats for those that insist in saying this emission was a "not to be missed one". From a numismatic point of view i do agree, from a commercial/investing point of view i m afraid it doesnt look good (as of today, of course. In 5-10 years who knows) 2022 5 Coin Memorial Proof Sovereign Set : Charles III (britanniacoincompany.com)
  5. i dont understand this rush in trying to get a pf70. honestly. Unless you are a trader what is the point in buying a coin and burying it in plastic, eventually even without enjoying it for a little bit? i read of TSF members that got the Sotd sovereign and sent it to slab directly through the dealer they bought it from. to me this is un-understandable
  6. thanks for the nice thought))) its the box LOL. the glue went on strike apparently..
  7. depends on the quality you are ready to get. 1500 each means a gvf 1817 and a au58 common date/bust William IV
  8. thanks to @PapaLazarou for the 2008!!! its really nice and it ll fit perfectly in my collection... and thanks to the RM for the Sotd. I like it very much and i have no complaints on the quality of the coin (CoA number 166 and QC n.20). What is really lame is the super low quality packaging that goes along with the Sotd. Half of it litterally broke in two when i first opened...
  9. sure, but also money (and the absence of) matters..
  10. i m not a £5 big boy more like a simple sovereign fellow i am considering the 5 coins set tho
  11. the democratic part of me says hurrayy!!!! with this choice/figures (i guess the RM went this way to maximize profit, giving a sh** to democracy) most of collectors will be able to secure a coronation piece. the collector part of me swears tho. 19500 memorial, 19800 coronation. Those sovereigns are not going to be "a rarity" that's for sure. What about obverse/reverse? exactly as per coronation Sotd?
  12. Covid definitely ruined the market, best was is and will always be checking coins in hand and buying off seller directly
  13. still, even a collector should behave with some limits. Collecting means studying too not just buying whatever at whatever price. If a (just inventing) AU58 1843 sov fetches (just inventing) 1000 gbp, what's the point in just bidding to get it even at 1500? or 1800? to me is finding a good au58 (maybe not in slab) and paying what is worth. And what the auction house asks as fee it really doesnt matter on final price i m ready to pay
  14. Auction fever. Something very common and potentially very dangerous. Participating to an auction is like go to a casino. You should set your mind/wallet BEFORE and not change your initial plan, never ever!! i mean fees can be 5% 10% 18% 25%; if you are able to control yourself, the final price you are ready to pay for a specific lot shouldnt change, is just a matter of adjusting bids to the fees. that's the theory, i know.
  15. as i get mine for sure... i was just commenting pics seen here...)
  16. Just lovely to me. First matte entering my collection (and first Sotd); love the way the numbers are represented. Reminds me of 1840's Vicky sovs
  17. no no i mean the 2023 proof sovereign. I was chosen as the ideal collector and got it directly from his majesty
  18. edited by adding 2012 Sotd
  19. woooot today i got my 2023 coronation proof sovereign....
  20. a full 1995 PF70 goes for 1000 gbp at the moment. To me is crazy money, but that's what the market is paying. Definitely not 1600 tho. I m not following halves, but i guess 450 would be a reasonable price.
  21. 45 days to get a no answer
  22. i quote you 100% on that, but on the other side i dont understand why, as we talk about memorial sovs, people get nervous. I personally bought both the bullion and the proof, and as collector i would never have missed them, and i never got them with the idea to make a profit out of them. Having said that i see how things are developping (memorial still available everywhere, i see the prices they make etc etc) and as of today i dont think its going to be that hell of investment. Too many around, squeezed between a Jubilee emission and a coronation year. In 5 years? i have no idea. In 10 years? no idea. But if i see how the jubilee is performing (unslabbed ones go for double the emission price) and how memorial is performing i have no doubt about which one i would call a wise investment. It is also not correct in my opinion mentioning today, to strenghten a reasoning, how 1989 or 2002-2005-2012 are performing. 1989 has been totally ignored for 20 years. If things were so clear i ask myself why people have not bought dozens when they were that cheap...?? 2002-5-12 are becoming more and more sought after only recently, and the recent sad passing of QEII plays a key role on that.
  23. i m not sure this is an hype phase; what is crucial is total minted number (1260); how many true sovereign collectors are out there? i never ever bought a coin in my life with the purpose of re selling it and i have never sold a single coin so far; (of course that might change, the future is not ours to see no?) i'd never part with it to make 7-800 gbp profit, this is not what i am collecting for. How many will hold? 1260 is not a large number. 20% will re sell? That means 250 Sotd on the market, but what will happen when they'll be bought by collectors that didnt make it on the 24 April? they'll hold... little by little the number of coronation Sotd available on the market will decrease (and the money asked for the few available will increase, that's simple logic). At that point (2k?) few that had originall held will decide to sell, (still, true collectors will never ever sell it) and that will eventually create a temporary hype in offer, but the numbers will be too low to create a domino effect on prices. Its a closed economy cycle. You cant compare with Jubilee or Memorial imho; this is a specific event linked to a day that is already part of history. Regardless of what RM will decide to do (and dilute) with the Coronation Proof
  24. i m good, i want the proof coronation set... so curse removed for freeeeee
