I’m glad you all got out before getting burnt. I’m done with all these fledgling gold savings/payments companies. I’m sticking to physical precious metals from now on which doesn’t involve any third party risks.

Glint has been taken into administration. Very few details at present.

Thanks! Yours was the comment I was looking for. Yes, I was well aware of Glint’s problems long before it went into administration which is why I registered instead with GoldMoney Inc, a gold savings/payments company similar to Glint. However, I haven’t deposited any money with them yet because of my doubts about the scheme’s success. I can see the attraction of gold savings companies for coin collectors who distrust fiat currency but it’s best to be cautious with these startup schemes compared to investing in gold ETFs and coins. Unfortunately, Glint’s safeguarded funds are not protected by the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

I remember someone was selling a 2018 gold proof version on here for £1250 early this year. I regret not buying it.
I'd love a little stack of gold 2018 bars.Same here! I’m not a big fan of 1oz gold bars security sealed in plastic. However, the Perth Mint’s unsealed rectangular dragon coins are a wonderful exception to the rule.

The Perth Mint really know how to make collectible limited mintage silver coins. The novelty Perth Mint Star Trek coin you see on my profile has a limited mintage of 50,000.

Thanks @ilovesilverireallydo ! Reads like something out of the Arabian Nights Adventures and just as exotic as the beautiful Arabic calligraphy. We’ve not only become clued up on genuine Saudi guineas but we can also give a line by line English translation of the Arabic on both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin!

I’m by no means an expert on Saudi coins but it’s amazing how clued up we’ve become on what constitutes a genuine Saudi guinea in a short space of time. Thanks for sharing your beautiful calligraphic coin! Certainly reignited my interest in exotic world coins! Would love to know what the Arabic means.

Bullion By Post has what appears to be a genuine Saudi gold guinea in stock and what a truly magnificent world coin! It’s the same size as a British gold sovereign.

I’m in the same boat as @BackyardBullion wanting to expand my stack and/or collection to include exotic world coins such as this beautiful calligraphic Saudi guinea. The major problem with unfamiliar world coins, however, is that even reputable dealers are out of their depth when handling such coins compared to British sovereigns and Chinese Pandas.

Well done @ilovesilverireallydo ! This is exactly what I was thinking of when I read this post but couldn’t quite recall where I saw the coin. I know it’s one of those worthless commemorative pieces but at least it’s minted by The Royal Mint and the closest we’ll get to a silver sovereign.

I was also late in discovering the Queen’s Beasts last year but still managed to get all the available 1/4oz gold beasts. I’ve been scrimping and saving since the start of the new year in order to buy the 1oz gold Lion and 1/4oz gold Yale that has just been released. I know that I can get two 1oz standard gold bullion coins for the price I’ll be paying for the 1oz gold Lion but the Queen’s Beasts are those once-in-a-lifetime coins collectors either get or regret not getting. We are in the penultimate year of the Queen’s Beasts and the series won’t be around forever. The Britannias, Eagles and Krugerrands will always be available but the same can’t be said for the Queen’s Beasts once the series winds up next year.

@ChrisSIlver I think the fact that the Photo Only Threads are for photos only is a great anti-trolling measure. I prefer to upload photos outside the photo threads and engage with members but find that thanks to their awareness of the Photo Only Threads trolls are less inclined to disrupt my posts.
