    Decent price tbf!
But unless a special year to you personally, why? Won't ever amount to anything special over intrinsic value!
If it was me, I'd just buy a bullion half sovereign and a 1 gram carded gold bar for similar money.
Entirely up to you though, if you like it then buy it.

    Not necessarily...
2 reasons I can think of, firstly 1/4oz is easier to calculate than a sovereign ( sovereign is slightly less than a 1/4oz)
2nd reason, not everyone likes 22ct gold. Whereas a 1/4 oz Britannia is 24ct.

I'm not sure if there even are any fractional Pd bullion coins, or if it's 1oz only (Edit: there apparently are some 1/2oz pandas). But there are 1/5/10/20g bars, or you can find Russian Pd coins from the 90s which were 1/4 and 1/2 oz.

I believe that palladium is more efficient with petrol engines catalytic converters (with manufacturers needing to meet low emissions standards) and platinum is used in catalytic converters of diesel. But diesel are less popular than, petrol these days.
I'm no expert, just my thoughts. Happy to be corrected by someone who knows more.

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are all keeping well?
I have just started to stack gold and silver as a way to save money for my retirement. I found that I was spending money on things that are essentially worthless so I might as well buy gold and silver to get my ' buying fix' but also maintain some value.
    My stack currently sits at,
    1oz silver Britannia x 5
    2oz silver Queens Beast's completer.
    1/10 ounce gold Britannia.
I am now saving to buy a full gold sovereign every two months and think this will be my plan going forward.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and huge thanks to everyone for the information available on the forum as it has been a great help getting started.
    Cheers.

Here are Perth Mint's definition of Proofs Bu's and Specimen coins,I've added a few coins to hopefully clarify things, the proofs are all on the left of the photos

    Proof Coin
The very highest quality collectable coin produced by The Perth Mint.  Featuring a proof finish comprising a highly-polished table with frosted and/or coloured design elements.
    Bullion Coin
A mass produced coin primarily aimed at precious metal investors. Finished with shiny design elements on a frosted table.

    Specimen Coin
A collectable coin akin to a bullion coin with a frosted table, but also featuring one or more special numismatic treatments, including colour, gilding, antiquing, or the insertion of gems.

RAM's interpretations of proof and Bu,s also known as UNC/uncirculated.

    Proof
A carefully struck coin using special dies with either a mirror‑like or matt finish. These coins are especially struck and the term is not used to describe a well‑preserved circulating coin. Proof is a method of manufacture, not a condition or grade.
      Uncirculated (UNC)
Uncirculated coins are manufactured in much the same way as circulated coins except for the following:
More attention and time is given to the preparation of the die surface finish, The coins are struck with greater pressure than the circulating coins to improve the sharpness of the design. More care and attention is applied at each step in the coining process to minimise damage, consequently a much lower production rate of about 30,000 coins per press per day is achieved. Uncirculated coins are packaged individually into plastic sleeves, presentation folders or occasionally presentation cases.
1oz 2000 proof and Bu from RAM

I hope this helps clarify things.
