  1. Initially I only started stacking sovereigns. Then I made it a bit more interesting to find different years. Date-runs are way more difficult to sell, way easier to split runs and sell individually. I do it because it gives me a sense of 'completion'... <OCD-mode off>
  2. I have a sheet also. I found it online and would like to credit it's maker but I forgot which website made is. sovereigns.pdf
  3. Hi, As some of you know I try and complete date runs of gold coins. I started many years ago with collecting different bullion sovereigns. In that bullion date run there are 140 different years when starting from 1838. The good thing is that there are just a handful of key dates and most are widely available. I tried the Mexican 50 pesos next and then onto the 100 Peruvian soles. Both have limited years, but are very big and therefore expensive. Now I started the dutch gulden date run, which is a lot of fun and affordable! I am interested what date runs you collect and what coins have some 'easy' and affordable date runs. Some coins run for tens of years making date runs very expensive. And then some coins have many key dates making date runs difficult to complete. What do you guys think is an affordable coin and 'easy' to complete a date run with? Love to hear about your date runs also. Cheers, J

  5. Hi @Sybilla! Welcome to the forum. Welkom op het forum.
  6. Shipping from UK to Europe is rubbish also. Nothing but problems with investment gold from the UK to EU for me tbh. All packages (even the ones with a large Customs note saying the coins are investment gold coins and VAT free) are being hold at Dutch customs for weeks. Finally i receive an invoice to pay vat plus import duties. Before i can fight the invoice i need to pay first. After payment they ship my my coins but they come with weeks (and in a couple examples MONTHS) of communication, arguing and pleading with Customs, Dutch Tax-office and the shipper. I am still waiting for my VAT/Import reimbursement from a coin I bought in an UK auction in October.....

  8. I think 1 oz is a good stack to start with. Then build up to as much as you feel comfortable and build a stack that provides in the need to start stacking in the first place. Yes, my answer doesn't really answer anything, and at the same time gives you plenty of answers. If you can get your question a bit more specific then the answers might be more detailed also
  9. Welcome to the forum! And Sovereigns are a good start indeed!
  10. I own a couple of 1oz gold reverse proof Libertads. I love the design and the quality of them. Also the low mintage is appealing in a weird way.
  11. Mind you @LawrenceChard, for some members these boating accidents are very real, in contrast to the coin if you ask me. 🙄 What is think happend; Back in 1784 when the Agencia Tributaria were actively looking for unsolicited gold and silver. The owner of this coin got cold feet and was afraid they would find his coin. So what he did was he quickly wrote a certificate stating the coin was found at the bottom of the sea. Apparently lost in a boating accident, which he happen to have found. 🙃 Edit: He used your initials for credibility as everyone already knew in 1784 you were going to be the leading PM dealer in the market. Foresight is a bliss!

  13. Perhaps give it a little more time... If they have a trusted reputation I am sure it will be fine.

He should take that dog out on a boating trip, I hear loads of sunken treasure due to all those damn boating accidents. 🤫🤪
