It’s a common misconception that only pure gold is the right stuff to buy. You’ll soon learn 22ct is equally as good! If you don’t like modern sovereigns then older ones are more gold like on colour

You’ll never see a poor man get Rich of gold either, which is the point dear @dicker is making to the OP. Those with a large gold holding tend to have made money elsewhere and decide to put a percentage into gold as a form of wealth preservation. Wealth preservation and “getting rich” are not remotely the same thing. To try and offer my opinion to @muneeb i would say buy Sovereigns. Lots and lots of info on this forum about why that’s a good move if you search some previous posts. Gold goes up and down for many reasons you just get more used to it over time.

I’ve been getting FT Weekend aswel lately as found the telegraph a little repetitive. I guess it’s like anything - interesting reading but usually written with a specific bias. Something else I enjoy is a blog called Monevator. (Sorry @dicker, drifting off subject again lol)

To me there should be some sort of grading system the mint uses before the coins are released. As mentioned above they should be PF 69/70, anything less is not acceptable. Silvers always going to be a bit of a gamble with milk spots etc but if they can’t make it pay for them with extra QC measures then don’t offer them!

This threads a blast from the past! What happened to @vand i used to enjoy some of his input. And yeah hows everyone getting on? I’m basically in the same position except i have a son almost 1 and our house has been extended which has helped increase my net worth (for those who do include their home in that figure). Other than that covid has pretty much halted anything else. This was a good thread!
