Decided it was time for another small purchase. Couldn't decide between having a gold month or a silver month so went for a bit of both.

    2015 10oz silver koala
    5 Mexican peso gold coin

Looking forward to the 10oz in particular as I've been waiting for an excuse to buy one. The 5% drop in spot today pushed me over the edge.

Overnight I chucked in a couple of cheeky bids on a couple of French gold coins. Silly bids really. But it shows that sometimes its a strategy that works.

Today I woke up to discover I've won an 1859 French 10FF gold coin for a great price of 100 Euros delivered. (It was advertised with a BIN of 120 Euros delivered),

Now I've already spent my budget for this month and this will have to come out of next months budget, but as I used my credit card that doesn't charge a fee for foreign currency transactions on paypal, and I always clear this card off every month, this won't be an issue. Using this card gets me as good a currency rate as what companies like currencyfair and Transferwise can offer, and means that I don't have to get ripped off by the extortionate Paypal charges.

Anyway, what it all boils down to is that I have a coin with a fine gold content of around 2.9g for only £74.03, (looking at the current currency rate online, 100 euros is £74.10), which is about 1% UNDER spot. Happy Days

Finally got my two 1987 gold nuggets, thanks to Atkinsons: they were listed as "pre-owned" but they look perfect to me! Love these early nugget designs, so now the collector gene is telling me to collect more of them. I do like some of the later Aussie Kangaroo designs as well / like 2007 or 2009.
Pictured with two Shetland silver Ravens which also arrive today. Got a proof and a " tarnished" - can you spot any differences? I could not. Nice coins - bit expensive as bullion, but I will get the 2015s as well.
So as Danny would say - " a very good day"!

Postman has just dropped off the Shetland Bullion Raven round.  It was a tarnished/spotted grade but seems almost perfect.

    1887 half crown

This is my first crown, probably last

The design is very nice and it goes along with the 1887 double sov and half sovereigns I have, but it just doesn't seem precious to me.. seems like an old junk coin

Old gold feels special, this old silver hmm not feeling it.

Was only £30 so no big deal

Just picked up my order from our resident bargain merchant Arshi, my first sovereign. I can see the appeal in them so I'll no doubt add some more as time goes on. This one has taken my fledgling gold stack to just over 2oz.

The 2% rise in gold so far today has put my gold stash into profit for the first time. Silver is lagging as you'd expect with VAT & premiums etc but I've invested twice as much in gold so my spreadsheet looks a little better for the time being.

It's an impossible decision. I've spent alot more than I intended to at the start but I'm confident it will be a good investment. I keep telling myself I'll buy next month's lot this month then skip a month but I never do

Despite giving up on old .500 silver coins the other day I ended up winning some I had on my ebay watch list. 50x shillings and florins, a total of just over 200 grams or 6.5oz of silver content delivered for right on spot. Not a bad result.

Picked up a little coin binder to keep things tidy. Space for 120 coins, how long will it take to fill?  My mini collection so far -
