  1. I wonder what the horse was thinking when St. George's balls were rubbing up and down it's back? It might explain the expression on it's face.
  2. Diameter of 40mm. It must be a wafer
  3. Today this Charlie arrived. Can't really see it on this image but there's spots where the frosting isn't complete on his face.
  4. Would it be that they've destroyed the dies for them & are hoping for a return to fall into their hands before supplying you?
  5. It might even kill off the interest in collecting/stacking foreign coins in the end. Silver will have to go sky high in price for it to be worthwhile keeping all foreign coins. Another way of bleeding us dry.
  6. Well, this will be interesting to see how many people will be trying to offload their coins before the new rates cut in. Maybe even dealers will struggle to sell theirs.
  7. Would it be advisable to offload any non-UK coins sooner rather than hanging onto them?
  8. I've just rang the mint and was told the half sovereigns will be posted out on the 29th of this month.
  9. BBP quote the half sovereign maximum mintage at 6480. Does this mean that Royal Mint sell 3000 & other dealers sell the remainder? Ah, me being blind and stupid, just realised they're in the sets as well! https://www.bullionbypost.co.uk/proof-sets/proof-half-sovereigns/queen-elizabeth-ii-memorial-half-sovereign-2022-gold-proof-coin/
  10. I've ordered the half sovereign as the full is a bit too pricey for my pocket at the moment.
  11. More than likely you can haggle the price down.
  12. HSBC are crooks. My missus got stung years ago paying a speeding fine in Germany for me. Biggest crooks out there.
  13. This is the small version as when I looked it up, there appears to be a bigger one available. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one now.
  14. I transferred 100 Euros to top up my Croatian Kuna's and they charged me a small fee. Saves paying the exchange rate at the till, which usually is higher.
  15. Picked these up on a market stall in town this morning and I especially like the 1902 coronation medal. Hadn't seen one before until today.
  16. You can use a Wise card, formerly known as Transfer wise. Convert your dollars into Euros on the app. You get a cheaper exchange rate than a bank.
  17. Seller claiming 10% of sale supports charity. How generous of them😂
  18. They've been in business for a while now.
  19. I bought two from the mint and they were marked. I'll more than likely give them away at Christmas to family members as I'm sure they won't be too fussy or even notice. Not that it makes it any better as the Royal Mint need to sort their quality control out. If you return them you either get your money back or a high chance of getting other marked coins.
  20. Shame the Chinese didn't make theirs 25 gram so you could stack an exact kilo of coins if they prefer metric weights. I might be developing ocd now!
  21. Having 15 in a tube makes it easier when there are multiple tubes for counting how many ounces there are. 16 was a bit odd to have in a tube of 1/10 oz's as was having 19 for the 1/4 oz's. Almost as odd as the Chinese panda's being dropped down to 30 grams. Makes it harder trying to keep a tally of exactly how many ounces you have.
