Me too. I have about £200-£300 worth of pre-1992 copper coins.

I've been sifting the copper ones out for years.  A fun way of saving cash that will be worth more than face value when it becomes legal to melt them.  Not long now at 8% inflation!!!  Tick tock.

Such a shame that I lost most of my metals in a boating accident.  Still, they can have my stack of copper 1's and 2's.  I've been waiting for them to fall off from being legal tender so I can scrap them...

If a world financial crisis ensued every government would be after your metals. Period.

How can it be completed if some remains?  I got the feeling that the deal was about appeasing the USA by not demanding all of it.  When you have to strike a deal that doesn't include full payment of debts, it's some sort of write down.  Maybe in the future they'll get the rest, or at least be able to use it as leverage in another deal, but I doubt it.  When clawing back debt from a bad debtor, one has to be careful not to scare the horses.

Yep, the Americans have brought a bill to congress to prevent gold being sold, but they failed to in blocking it being used as collateral in finance deals, which is a technicality but one that surely will be exploited.
Russia has been a net buyer of gold for a long time. I think we might soon find out how much gold they really have!
    Indeed, in a Siberian winter

An interesting article from Egon von Greyerz is below, a bit gloomy but a realistic look at the state of the global economy and how these sanctions against Russia but end up being the black swan we've heard rumours of for so long.

    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/von-greyerz-dark-years-are-here

If Russia and several other Asian countries come out in support of a gold standard, or gold and silver that could have serious ramifications for us hodlers/stackers and general lovers of PMs. But it would collapse the entire global FIAT ponzi scheme in one swoop.

It sure is an interesting time to be alive. we are, I feel, at the in the end game of the current money game

I've seen then occasionally over the last 6 or 7 years. But it appears that the frequency and volume of withdrawals has increased of late. I've never seen silver withdrawals as large as these  and not on consecutive days. I'll be keeping a beady eye out now and watching for further withdrawals to see if this is a pattern emerging or if it is simply a one off event

Another day, another set of withdrawal notices from Bullion Vault, this time Zurich and London.

Gold from Zurich - 2,361 ounces

Gold from London - 795 ounces
    Silver from London - 57,914 ounces or 1,800 kilo's  (60 1000 ounce bars)

Investors are getting rattled it would seem, even from private/non-bank owned vaults.  I wonder if this is to do with sanctions on wealthy Russians at all?

Public notice on BullionVaults website of Gold and Silver withdrawal from their Zurich vault.

    Gold - 7 400Oz bars or for a total of 2,799.745 ounces.
Silver - 128 1000Oz bars or for a total of 123,455.409 ounces. A little shy of 3.9 tons
That's the biggest withdrawal I've seen from them from any of their vaults over the last few years.
Not sure what to make of this fully but it sure is interesting that at a time of extremes as we are seeing, there is a large withdrawal.

It's actually often the other way round.  The silver is a bonus from mining the base metals.  When base metal mining becomes too expensive due to energy costs, the silver supply is affected as well.
Currently scrap cars are over £400 for the crusher.  This indicates that iron supply is under pressure.

I'll hasten to add that I'm not a negative Norman, I'm a realist and see the BS for what it is. Most if not all the members of this forum stack incase the above negative outcome or something that marginally resembles it happens as a way to preserve wealth and to future proof a little of the unknown ahead of us.

I think there is a lot more at play now. The global markets are in the toilet to say the least. There is liquidity issues in the banks more so than a year ago, stock markets I think from memory were lower than they are today, but the trend line was up. Whereas most market are on the verge or technically in a bear market after shedding 15-20% from their highs. And then there is the whole globalisation or retreat from that to a more locally focused supply chain to ensure survival.
I think the dam wall has too many leaks in it to fix at this point. I think when this breaks the markets will shutdown and no one will know the price for a good long time. It we look back tot he tin crisis of 2015, tin was suspended from the LME for 4 years. Imagine silver and gold being suspended on the Crimex for that long.  Every country in the world would probably resemble some 80s African third world country.

I know that sounds overly downcast and negative, but I'd rather prepare for this and end up with a better result

So is nickel currently suspended?  Looks like they're trying to work out which shorts to burn before setting the market live again.

Anyone think it will exceed last years supply shortage panic by the end of the month?  I honestly cant imagine that the supply issues are any better than back in Jan 2021.  If we think back to the weekend of the spike high, dealers stopped selling over that weekend because of fears of supply shortage.  I'm not sure, but the pressure now seems far more likely to cause supply shortage and it's two pronged this time.  Geographical supply due to politics, as well as energy price squeezes on mining output.
Curious to know where and when people think this move is going to top out?
