What's it like to drive?

Barrels along quite well, goes like a bullet really. I had them in my sights after seeing them in a magazine I was rifling through, then finally pulled the trigger and got one.

Falling US inflation opens door to rate cuts within months, says OECD
A rapid fall in US inflation has opened the way for interest rate cuts within months, the OECD said, but it warned that Britain would suffer from the G7’s fastest price growth. The OECD’s interim outlook, published on Monday, predicted US inflation of just 2.2 per cent in 2024 and 2 per cent in 2025 — among the lowest rates in the G7.
The Paris-based organisation said that only in Italy would price growth be less this year. But it forecast the UK would be burdened by the G7’s highest inflation rate, at 2.8 per cent this year and 2.4 per cent in 2025, underscoring the battle faced by the Bank of England in reining in price growth.

This is an interesting observation. Jerome Powell may be pointing out that even after rates are cut, they will remain relatively high, which could have an impact on a number of factors, including asset prices such as gold. At the same time, the strengthening of the dollar may be one of the factors putting pressure on gold prices.
 

GBP taking a battering today

Jerome Powell was talking earlier and restated that rates will remain higher for longer, even if there is a cut in 2024. Dollar stronger so gold slipped. People are becoming desensitised to all the Middle East stuff it seems.

Overall most banks remain heavily short gold, although overall market sentiment remains bullish;
meantime, hang onto your hats and buy any dips, we may, albeit briefly, see prices in the 1580's once again.

I get my fuel from a supermarket as all the local stations have closed down, and the supermarkets have no one in the kiosk running it,they got rid of them too.  it is all done at the pump with credit/debit card, If I find an independent supplier when I move I will use that instead. I had even thought of getting my local farmer to buy it for his tractors in bulk then pay him cash, he likes cash.

I do, everything except petrol is cash.
