If you look at the top of the page on The Silver Forum (TSF) you can view it in USD, alternatively there are apps such as "Kitco live" will tell you the live price. Maybe useful for yourself can change currency and from Oz to Gram

tbh, if its your first, and you decide on a 1/10th you cant go wrong with the Royal Mint for a KCIII 1/10th brit, they are only a couple of quid over the other dealers and you get one of their better capsules.
Other dealers you may need to back order or they will be in flips or lesser quality caps and the RM ones are in stock with 'FREEEEEEEEE DELIVERY'

Didn’t notice, well done, well worth the money. Usually a very good selection of gold coins and bars from sovereign size down on here.

The nature of an auction is what it is.... I'm yet to see anyone here take offence to being out bid. Everyone knows the score so if you feel inclined..... bid away and see what happens. Just don't bid past what you're happy to pay. It could be a bargain

Yes you are right Frelander1 if Brittania I could only afford 1/10 at the moment.

I would feel awful to out bid Rosco at the last point.

You probably meant 1/4 sovereign as previously mentioned a 1/4 Britannia appears to be out of your budget. If you paid one of the subscriptions on here you would see the offers immediately, otherwise by the time you are seeing stuff most of the bargains have gone. A 1/4 sovereign on here this afternoon went within the hour. Good luck with whatever you go for on here.👍

Unfortunatly buddy 1/4 brits go for about £410. 1/2 sovs £200. 1/10 might be in your bracket.

There's currently an auction for a 1/2 sovereign going and the seller is sound as a pound 😆
I will tag you into it and you can look

Ok I'm going to look for Sovereigns and britannias, both for recent years.
I heard other companies use the name sovereign but aren't sovereigns, is it a particular company that does the actual sovereigns?

Having said all that .... £5 to clean your whole living room carpet is pretty cheap. A bargain for us in need of his service but not so great for him!

If youre on a tight budget but still want a nice gold coin on a low premium...... Half sovs or full sovs are the best bet. Current years tend to be the cheapest as they're abundant across all dealers and sellers. Same for 1/10th britannias although the premium on the smaller coins can put people off in the long run but they are a great little coin to curb the buying urge. There's a lot to be said for them.... you don't have to sell a whole ounce if all you need is an emergency 200 quid for example. The world is your oyster and here on the forum you are amongst many friends that like you , have been bitten by the bug. Just try not to slip so far down the greasy pole as @James32 who now has to pimp out his hoover for a quick sucky sucky for 5 dalla

Hello and welcome,
I would recommend more research before deciding on what to buy as your first purchase. While there are people that stack bars they are in the minority and coins tend to be more popular making them more liquid when you sell. Whatever you decide though DO NOT buy a gold bar from eBay, a lot of fakes. Stick to a dealer or one of the reputable sellers on here. I also agree completely with what other have said regarding the security features on modern Britannia coins.
Good luck whatever you decide
