Nice coins. As @James32 says the 1877S is the best. @Silverlocks assessment would be a fair assessment. However, I'm just a hoarder and a coin heathen, I'll collect almost anything. Nice to have a great coin but I only chuck them in the bucket at the back door. Incidentally I do have each of these years.

I have these two young head shields which am thinking of selling soon to try and buy a uncirculated early Victoria shield.
I think both coins are GVF as you can see quite good details in the lions faces. Most lions on both coins you can make out their eyes. 
What do others think they would rate these as.

I think the 1877S is more like aboutEF on the obverse and EF on the reverse - most of the detail is still visible in the crown, the lions' faces and the harp on the shield, and the rose, thistle and shamrock at the bottom of the reverse - and there is only a little bit of wear on Victoria's hair on the obverse.
I think gVF is about the right call for the 1873.   There's a little flattening on Victoria's hair on the obverse and a bit of flattening on the wear points on the reverse, but the detail is not completely obliterated.  Neither coin has any major handling marks or edge dings that mar the cosmetics.

I wouldn't be the right person to ask Luc, I don't tend to go after the older stuff. In saying that the 1877s stands out to my untrained eye.
