  1. Apart from some nice 18th century reales, I don't have any historic coins. These popped up here and I thought I'd take a look - learn something new. You should chat to @Upsidedown where I got them, @richatthecroft and others on here. I am certainly not an expert on these.
  2. Elizabeth I - 1558-1603 Don't know much about this one. It's about 18mm diameter and 1.48 grams. Anyone have a guess at denomination or any more info, I'd love to know. Thanks.
  3. Yep. The above recommendation goes for general purpose use too. These days, a cropped sensor (APS, Micro 4/3rds) mirrorless camera is a great choice. They are very capable. But remember, the lens is the more important choice. Most macro lenses are good for portraits and medium distance photos like houses and trees. But they won't have the flexibility that a real general purpose lens has. For that, you want something like a 24-70mm zoom or similar (that would be around 18-50 for cropped sensors).
  4. Emperor Commodus denarius 177-192 Definitely a departure from my usual. Predates my previous oldest coin by about 1600 years. Thanks @Upsidedown.
  5. Super nice bar and excellent price. What a peach. (And great pics too)
  6. So it is. Looks like 1oz silver and 1oz gold for the bullion. Proofs are 1oz, 2oz, 5oz silver and 1/4, 1oz, 2oz gold. Hope to see tubes of the silver bullion on the forum soon. 🤞 I have the proof 1/4 gold and 2oz silver of the first two, and plan to get the same for each issue. I have a weakness for Bond.
  7. Those are beauties. They cannot hang around long at that price. Lovely big slabs of goooooold!
  8. I think they may have meant two releases this year, and the rest next year. I'm just going off this image on RM site.
  9. I hadn't noticed that. Since I am a James Bond super fan, I guess I'm committed (or should be). Looks like the next two coins are January and March, so pretty rapid. Haven't seen any mention of bullion for these at all.
  10. 2023 Six Decades of 007: The 1970s 2nd coin in the series of 6. The first coin only came out a few weeks ago. Is this going to be a quick series for Royal Mint?
  11. Looks like a meteor strike. 🤣 Those little USB microscopes are very handy. They won't take the prettiest pics, but they're cheap and can show a lot of detail.
  12. Did anyone buy enough bars to fill an advent calendar?
  13. Royal Mint 5g Britannia Gold Bar One of the infamous 'Black Friday' bars. Shout out to @Gordy.
  14. Just received the shipping email for one of my orders, at 6.15am.
