  1. The numbers sold seem a bit low, and yet the queues have been very long all day. When I got on this morning, the queue was huge.
  2. They're not struck yet. They're supposed to be sent out in January. Thanks. These numbers are a bit shocking since I know the dealers order a lot of these.
  3. Don't forget to add the piedforts to the mix.
  4. While waiting in the queue, I got a nasty message that they detected porn on my computer and won't let me in. I wrote back and told them that this is my wife's computer.
  5. I buy coins as a collector because I like them. Pure and simple. I have never sold a coin in my life and I don't plan to. When I drop dead and my extensive collection goes to my heirs, they can do as they please, but it's not my problem if the value goes down.
  6. I really appreciate that this is mint to order. It allows everyone who wants something to order it over the next 3 months. Sure, the value will not be as great as a strictly limited edition. But, this takes the flippers and high-profit dealers out of the picture until the end of December. We won't know what the mintages will be until January. I really don't care because I just want the coins for my collection as a part of history. I wasn't collecting coins in 1951, so I wasn't able to get QEII's inaugural coins. (I was more concerned with what was in my diaper than in my piggy bank! 🤪)
  7. Because most of these coins are minted to order (which I agree with), I woke up at 3 a.m. Chicago time (9 a.m. BST) to order the coins when I could have waited. But who knew these would be mint to order? Oh well, I did get what I wanted except a full night's sleep. Now, I'm grumpy and keep missing my mouth with my coffee cup. This is tough, guys!
  8. After 1:30 pm BST and I was over 30,000 when I got to the RM page!
  9. Don't imbibe too quickly or you will emit a four-fart.
  10. I got the 1 oz. and two piedfort silvers from a dealer at less than RM price. And no queue!
  11. Since I've gone this far, I should get the bullion Sovereign. But, I really don't collect bullion, and for some reason it doesn't appeal to me that much. Now, if someone were to sell me one for the price of a postage stamp, I would certainly reconsider!
  12. I talked myself into buying the 5 Sovereign piece. I didn’t want to kick myself for missing it. So, now, as a tribute to the memory of QEII, I now have the regular proof, SOTD Sovereign, piedfort proof Sovereign, and 5 Sovereign piece. That’s enough Sovereigns for me!
  13. Piedfort Sovereigns are relatively rare. There have been few piedfort issues over the years. Plus the mintage is about 1/3 that of the regular sovereign. So, for me, the choice is clear: There is no choice, so I just get both!
  14. A ditty can always be used for free postage. Unless, of course, it's a bitty ditty.
  15. What a deal! Do you deliver to the U.S.? Heck, you can keep the Sovereigns and just sing a little ditty for me!
  16. I feel really bad for innocent collectors who are being duped with this c**p.
  17. Yep, glad I got that one. It’s in transit here from a vendor.
  18. We knew that the SOTD Sovereign was special. Now, I think it’s even more special. I don’t believe I’ve seen these available at any dealers, so it’s probably a great seller’s market out there.
  19. It would be interesting to see a memorial portrait of the Queen on the reverse with the effigy of her son on the obverse.
  20. Does anyone feel that the RM will issue some sort of memorial/tribute coin honouring the Queen one last time? It would be a monster seller.
  21. Living outside the UK, I was able to order a set for £50. Good deal.
  22. A question: Must UK coins issued after today have the portrait of Charles on the obverse? If so, can this initially slow down the releases? Also, what about coins issued by the Commonwealth?
  23. At the same time as I'm sure the Royal Mint today is designing QEII memorial and King Charles ascension coins (if not already designed).
  24. Yes, I got an e-mail today from my vendor that my piedfort was shipped.
