  1. Although I’m happy that the portrait of King Charles has the crown, I really don’t like how it looks. It was simply added to his regular effigy and you can see his head through it. Shouldn’t it be less transparent?
  2. Absolutely correct! These coins are rarely, if ever, perfect.
  3. I FINALLY received my 2022 QEII Memorial Silver Set today! I was expecting a different coin, but this was a nice surprise because I practically forgot about ordering it in early December. The set is very nice and is well presented in a beautiful case. It was sent to me here in the US via UPS Express, and I finally got it 4 months after I ordered it. Oh well, better late than never!
  4. This is a done deal for the Royal Mint. They don't seem to care about the sales numbers of this coin as they are off to creating dozens of new coins for sale. QC is a thing of the past. Their goal is not customer satisfaction but rather to keep pumping out more and more coins. This is why I will no longer buy coins directly from the RM. I want a dealer to examine the coins before sending them to me. And, whenever I order a coin from a dealer, I ask them to inspect the coin when it comes from the RM before shipping it to me.
  5. I got my 2 oz. set sent by the dealer I ordered from. Coins appear to be in perfect condition. The dealer inspected the coins prior to sending them to me. This is the way to go. I will never order from the Royal Mint again unless I don't care about the condition of the coins. Their concern is not QC but rather in pumping out coin after coin. The little QC that they used to have is now completely gone. Caveat emptor!
  6. To all of you with damaged coins (and I may be one of them). I would suggest spending a little more and buying from a dealer. Ask the dealer to inspect the coin before sending it out to you. As an alternative, buy a coin that has been slabbed and graded. You simply cannot trust the Royal Mint to send you a quality product.
  7. Wow, that looks terrible. It looks like the raised letters scraped the capsule when the coin was inserted in it.
  8. 5 oz. silver set - 41 available 10 oz. silver - 20 available
  9. Less than 2K of the 2 oz. silver sets has sold. 1,346 sets still available.
  10. Available quantity of the 2 oz. set appears to be frozen at 676.
  11. I’m surprised that this set has not sold better. IMO, the design is beautiful, the edge lettering is unique, and the capsules look terrific and highlight the coins well. I guess most people buy to flip, and this may not be a flippable coin.
  12. I don’t think they can because of the edge inscription. The coin would be too small for the inscription. I assume that’s why there is no silver 1 oz.
  13. We all know that we would much prefer reading the edge description while facing the portrait of KCIII ! And please be sure to face in the direction of Buckingham Palace when you do so!
  14. One of the big reasons I prefer buying from the dealers. I have never gotten a bad coin from a dealer.
  15. I don't foresee the 2 oz. silvers selling out unless it gets close and the dealers buy it out. I made a big mistake with this. I anticipated that the queue would be overrun, and these would sell out very quickly. I also thought that the mintage would be lower than it is. So, to save myself some stress, I bought it from a dealer when sales opened at a little higher price. Lesson learned for the future!
  16. I think this is it. KCIII is the obverse, and I think they intentionally intended that the coin is to be read the way it is. Perhaps their sign of respect to KCIII, too.
  17. The available quantity of the 2 oz. silver set keeps growing. It's now up to 714.
  18. Last year, here in the U.S., ModernCointMart/GovMint produced a modern take on St. George. Legal tender of the Ascension Island and designed/engraved by three modern masters. Available in gold and silver.
  19. Of course, the cost of these coins will be much more than the value of the metal. There are fixed costs, variable costs of this issue, a built in profit, etc. It costs a lot to produce the coins. In addition to costs for designing and engraving the coins, there are the supplies (cases, capsules, etc), marketing/advertising costs, administrative costs and salaries, etc. if I like the coin and can afford the cost, I buy it. Then again, I’m a collector and not a flipper. I have never sold a coin, so I don’t view them as a quick profit.
  20. Being from the U.S. and a collector of U.S. Mint issues, I guess I am used to coins selling out extremely quickly. Collectors and flippers here are quite rabid. We have had mintages of 25K to 50K (and more) sell out in minutes. Before the Mint set up things to slow down the bots, the website was overrun and customers could not get through. It was a nightmare.
  21. My bet is that the next Great Engravers will see even lower mintages because these are not selling well. Certainly not as well as I expected.
  22. With 680 of the 2 oz. silver sets still available, it could be a while before these sell out. They're selling at a snail's pace now.
  23. I changed my mind and decided to go for the 2 oz. silver set. The uniqueness of the raised letters on the edges intrigued me. Plus, the design does look good, and I like the unique capsules.
