not really the sprayduster? Is it because its got other chemicals in it which could ruin the coin over time? I will give that dust blower some consideration, but looking at that couldn't you use a football pump? Same sort of thing it looks like?

Thanks for that, have you stopped buying proofs coins for these reasons you noted from the RM and dealers and difficult to sell? Im also reading that grading is a lottery but personally for me I have no intentions of grading this set. The box is absolutely gorgeous in my inexperience opinion so I would rather have it in the box.

Yeah I thought so (like the my 1st sovereign picture in my first post, where you can see lots of little dots.) but thought this also might be a frosting issue (hope really that its not pre spotting) after reading the comment from blackadder.

I've been doing that with the panthers, I was happy with the coins at the start but have since looked at the coins and it seems to me when I shine the light at certain angles I can see defects like its starting to develop milky spotting maybe, never been out of the capsules so don't know what to think of it. What is a frosting problem? Could this be that?

I think i only see it when it catches a certain angle of the light under the loupe, I cannot see the tiny spots with the naked eye and only at different angles. I will look again but I cannot see the issue with pic b and c with the naked eye but then again the sovereign is so small in size it is hard to see all the details on the coin anyways. No idea how people can see all of the detail on such a small coin, does that come with experience and knowing what to look for? Yeah I would rather have this set than no set at all tbh so I will see what RM says. Thanks for your feedback

Yeah i feel this would be my thinking, I haven't graded anything but will never say never. I've only recently got a loupe and only at 10x. I thought as the sovereign would be too small to see everything with the naked eye so thats why I purchased the loupe to be able to enjoy the detailing close up. Did you come to sell the coin and was it a special release like this? Thanks for sharing your experience.

magnification is 10x, with the size of the sovereign and the design its very difficult to see the dents for me. It will probably play on my mind. With frosting, is that acceptable on a coin and is that normal? (I notice on some comments frosting is a issue but shouldn't be a deal breaker?) I can get a refund most probably.

Hi All, So got mine today and looking at it via a loupe and found some issues (I think) 1st - A-Frosting.png - is this what you call frosting on the coin? Little white spinkles everywhere on the coin? (Think you can just about see it in the pictures.) 2nd - B-unicorn dent.png - circled in red on 2nd picture, is that a dent on the unicorn? 3rd - c1 - leftsideshield.png - circled in red on 3rd and 4th picture, another dent on the shield? Would you return the coin if you just had frosting issues? Would you return the coin if you had these dent issues on unicorn and shield? Without a loupe and looking closely I wouldn't of notice theses issues. Thanks in advance for your experience.

Manage to catch up with the thread after early morning purchase. Seems like it has been a surprisingly positive release after so many different coins for sale. My question is, Is this normally the case at the start of the year to have a big release? Also these coins are to celebrate the platinum jubilee, are we expecting to be more coins through out the year to celebrate the platinum jubilee? Assuming so, guessing there is no schedule for the year? If that is the case, I think I need to start to prepare a list of excuses for why we cannot do any big home improvements this year as was planned in 2021.

Yeah, nearly went for it as it was cheap until I read that wasn't good for coins and also the pixels on the image that was taken were not full HD, wasn't expecting much but also attractive because it also comes with a box of 100 capsules for coins (99% off). But then again the capsules and foam materials are probably not good for the modern coins if you house them in there so wasn't sure to pull the trigger or not. Thanks for your help

Thanks for the reply, I was just wondering as I was playing around with the kids toy so was wondering about taking better pictures mainly when zoomed in, maybe Im just going to upgrade my phone so camera can take macro pictures and 120x zoom.

Hi All, So my son received a gift for educational purposes for school, however I was pleasantly surprise and thought maybe I can also use it to look at coins in more detail. He got this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/National-Geographic-Microscope-40x-640x-Smartphone/dp/B016QIPWO8 I have tried to set it up to look at coins, it seems to be zoomed into it so much that I cannot really see and everytime I put the stage (Where the coin sits) further down so its away from the mircoscope it doesn't focus. I assume its because 40x to 640x is too high to be able to use this to look at coins? This one has a phone holder to take pictures which I thought was a good feature to have. So I am now on a look out for a microscope to purchase. Any one use anything like this and can recommend something? Thanks

Thanks. Yeah at just under £400 i thought good price, the only problem for collector is that its not continuous set. Yeah, I have been tempted and considering the 1/4 ounce seymour panther gold proof but at £650 its abit high imo. I have been trying to justify it with looking at the queen beasts series. From what I can see (Not much and only looking at recently ebay listings.) they are usually under £650 so really hard to justify the gold proof at the moment, so am now tempted to just pick up the queens beast good lookers like the griffin, dragon, lions, hell all of them after. lol. I mean for me, regarding looks I like the griffin, dragon, lioin over the seymour panther. Obviously the queens beast have done well as the price was sold at a lower value. Trying to decide by if you had a choice to pick up a griffin 1/4 ounce gold or a seymour panther 1/4 ounce gold if you didn't have any and can only choose one at this moment in time, im leaning towards the well estabished griffin. Any thoughts?
