Nowhereman got a reaction from slack in Gold sovereign old colour (silver mix) vs new colour (copper mix)
I reckon it saved less than 40 pence per sovereign when they replaced the silver with copper so the economic argument doesn't really make sense to me which just leaves the aesthetic argument which again, I just don't get.
The only reason I can think  is down to the continuous mindless drive of modernity for constant change.🤮🤮🤮.

Just saw your avatar and name, I'm going to guess you like the orange sovs. 🤣
I'm just trying to do a bit of a focus group to see if my petty winge has legs. I will figure out how to start a petition later if there is any momentum in a genuine desire for a return to yellow gold Sovereigns.

I should describe each coin as excellent - again my personal opinion. The Griffin fractionally superior in finish to the Falcons. The Falcons revealed a small mark at each base of the neck (ref. third photo).

Not 'new' sovs to me but from the current range of Royal Mint releases over the past couple ... I'll get 'me coat.

Hello stackers,  collectors and fans of PM's.  Gold Sovereigns  have always  bothered me, I first bought one to commemorate the birth of my first daughter back in 2008 and was so disappointed in the colour. I did the same for my second daughter and it was the same shiny penny colour that I loved as a kid at Christmas but was very un-gold like.
So when I started stacking and collecting gold I favoured the 24K 9999 varieties as they satisfied that primal desire that true gold inspires and avoided Sovereigns like the plague.
I did however recently buy a 2022 jubilee sovereign because I liked the design and then a 1958 and 63 Gillick sovereign because they just looked like gold. When compared side by side the difference in the 22K alloy is so pronounced (Apologies for the photo quality)
Apparently the alloy was changed from a silver mix to a copper mix back in 2000 and my 3  questions for discussion are : Who prefers the old colour to the new colour?
Can the mint be petitioned to revert to the old mix?
Have I missed something? (I have only done a surface level Google search so quite probably).

Nowhereman reacted to ChrisSilver in ⚠️ Please be careful when trading - some basic checks you should do
Today we took a precautionary measure and banned an account that we believed could pose a risk to members. However, this does not mean that we will spot any suspicious accounts in the future. So please be careful when trading.
Members are reminded of their responsibility to do their own due diligence and the risk of trading. Please check section 7.4. Risk of trading of the forum’s rules.

You may wish to take note of the following when doing your due diligence and trading:
    - How long has the member been active on the forum for? There is likely less risk when trading with long standing members who have been on the forum for many years. (Anything less than 3+ years they are still relatively new)
    - How much trading feedback do they have, and is the trading feedback selling feedback? How long have they been selling on the forum for?
    - Their community reputation, is it high, have they been engaging in a lot of topics with a lot of posts?
    - The optional attached piece of paper with their forum username on, does it look authentic, please zoom in. For sellers it is also best to include 'The Silver Forum' on the piece of paper, so that it is an original written note for a sale on TSF and therefore not the same photos used from elsewhere on the internet. Although please bare in mind that it is also relatively easy to photoshop or forge onto a photo.
    - Do they have Premium Membership? If a member has Premium Membership it means that the forum should have the name and and address of the member*, or at least of the card owner. This gives us vital information to pass onto the police should it be a scam member and we are requested to pass on information. *Note that for some Premium Members TSF may not hold an address of, such an example may include but may not be limited to a situation where: a gift membership was purchased for a member and they have not reached the renewal date or added an address to their account. For every member who has purchased Premium Membership themselves with a card or renewed; we should hold an address of the member, or at least of the card owner.

    - Be wary of someone asking you to send the payment to a 3rd party. Having several successful deals with a member who then subsequently asks you to send money elsewhere to a different bank account (such as a bank account of a friend) this time should be seen as a red flag. If a member is selling on behalf of a 3rd party make sure they have the items in hand, and you are sending to the bank account of the member who listed these items for sale on TSF.

    - Be extra careful when dealing in large amounts of money, several previous successful trades is no indication that a future deal with the same member will be 100% without problems.
    - If anything does not feel right, or there is anything that causes doubt, do not go through with a trade.

Some members exclusively only buy from and sell to, long standing Premium Members.

We also suggest for members to use tracked shipping, or ideally a form of insured shipping, this is useful for members of both sides of the trade.
Also, please be polite to new members listing items for sale. Everyone was a new member at one stage, and new members may need some time to build up a trading history on the forum. Note that statistically a new member listing an item for sale is more likely a genuine member than not. But please be careful when trading and report any suspicious activity immediately by using the report feature.

Disclaimer: The suggestions if implemented do not change the Forum's Term’s & Conditions in regards to member's risk of trading. Please check section 7.4. Risk of trading of the forum’s rules.

Nowhereman reacted to ChrisSilver in MEMBER BANNED - Trading Feedback manipulation
With the help of some TSF members, which I will keep anonymous in order to help protect the community when investigating potential future instances, and some admin investigation...

We have today banned a new member who was found to be abusing/manipulating the trading feedback system to create false feedback on trades that never took place on TSF.

The decision to ban was also made as we also believed that this person could have posed a potential trading risk to TSF members. TSF prides itself on having one of, if not the, most honest online marketplaces for trading precious metals. This year alone there have been over 5046 new trade topics started, with many trade topics containing huge lists of precious metals items for sale. Many thanks for those members who choose to buy and sell on TSF.

Please do see the following topic and re-read to remind yourself on some simple tips in order to help reduce risk as much as possible when trading on TSF:

Many thanks to Premium Members who help to support and maintain TSF. For those who would like to support TSF please do consider purchasing Premium Membership as this helps greatly in maintaining and growing TSF. The larger TSF gets the more situations need to be investigated in order to help protect members as best as we can. To upgrade your account to Premium Membership to support TSF in exchange for all of the listed benefits including seeing new trade listings 3 days before standard members, please see the store here. An extra special thank to you to Platinum group Premium Members.

Here is the "double denarius" Antoninianus.
looking for £40 posted RM signed 1st.
Fairly decent condition for 1,800 years old! (I'm in arguably worse nick at 28.)
To sweeten the deal to sell (as I really don't want to end up on ebay) i'm going to throw in a Hadrian (the original trump - "BUILD THE WALL") provincial bronze. (117-138 AD)
    Thanks for looking 😎
