  1. I doubt if any one ought to feel too comfortable about the direction of the price of gold. The market may be over-reacting to Powell's speech today. Whilst he said that the rate increases seemed to be having the desired effect and gave a cautious indication that they might begin to discuss rate cuts, he also said that the Fed would raise rates again if necessary.
  2. Again, good logical thinking. However, there is an alternative: leave it to one's children.
  3. Good advice - except that some of us may not be around that long!
  4. I think you are doing extremely well already on all fronts. Keep it up!. (I write as an entirely satisfied customer, if I am allowed to say so.)
  5. Please see my p.m. One spoken for, in theory. Roger
  6. I do have to say that I admire/share your preference for puff pastry mince pies. I do not like the heavy short pastry versions.
  7. From what I read, it's the result of a weaker dollar against a basket of currencies (the DXY). Therefore your average dollar buys you that much less gold.
  8. Looks authentically well used. I understand that half sovereigns were circulated much more rapidly than the full version. Could probably tell a tale or two, to judge by its condition. Era of the original Sherlock Holmes, I expect? Makes you think. If feeling generous, and in hot pursuit, Sherlock might perhaps have used a half sovereign to tip his cab driver - or one of his underworld informers. Or am I out of touch with relative values? Anyway, GLWS.
  9. Good value, I'd say. As so often, just wish I had the funds.
  10. Great offer. Just wish I had the funds for it.
  11. Thank you, Stuntman. Will certainly take a look.
  12. Thank you to all who have replied. Much good sense in what you all say. Actually, I prefer the jubilee version, both the obverse and the reverse, so perhaps I ought to wait for one of those, if funds permit, but the memorial quintuple does seem to be still available.
  13. The premium on this is massive, but it's an attractive coin with a limited issue, so would it prove a good investment in all probability? Many thanks for your opinions.
  14. Thank you, James. There really ought to be more takers for these sovereigns.
  15. Both 1962s, please. And can you combine the RMSD (should be about £10 for insurance up to £2500, I think)?
  16. Well, if so, it would be helpful to have a 'completed' sign attached.
  17. Many thanks to those that have replied. Yes, I suppose that 'shedloads' is the closest we shall get to an answer, unless either we could get a helpful large-scale dealer to give us his figures and extrapolate from that, or the Royal Mint decided to do something simple and useful and publish the figures, which it must have at its fingertips. It is much more probable, however, that it will spend its time in dreaming up yet more special issues that the world really does not need and flooding the market with them.
