  1. It's climbing way too high for my liking, in GBP as well as in USD. I'm having buyer's regret ! Should have loaded up more.😢
  2. You're right. The series II coins are proofs again. I originally thought Series I were proofs and Series II are bullion. I stand corrected. The quest for a definitive answer on the Bullion Series Big 5 continues. (Still, my guess is that the Bullion series will follow the same cycle as the proof coins).
  3. Correct! ...... not 4 more Elephant coins !
  4. There are plenty of info on the SA Mint website. So best to obtain accurate info on there. The series II Lion has already been released. Though a strong local demand may have caused supply issues abroad. A radio interview (14 mins long) with the SA Mint Managing Director is here. She talks about the bullion Series II collection. So no need to second guess ! The Rhino is next. Just as I though, a five coin series - Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard and lastly, the buffalo. Then repeat the cycle.
  5. Your advice to me last time was to stack canned baked beans, so I did ! Now it's canned soup. But before that it was spam then Dr Martins. I can't keep up ! 🤣
  6. I believe 125 ! That's what I read on the London Underground web page ! 😎
  7. Not much luck is required in stacking PMs. But you do need plenty of spare cash. 🤑 Welcome to the forum. 😎
  8. What you're describing is best practice. But in the real world, it doesn't happen that way.
  9. Four months is better than 3 ! 😉 Obviously not automaticated for ukcoinage as it expired and was not renewed in time. Hence, a user reported a certificate verification error. 90 days is seen as the most commonly used certificate in the industry is news to me. Just taken a snapshot of three popular bullion dealers on TSF. They are for 12 months +.
  10. People in business for the long term would renew their website certificate for at least a year.
  11. Have you held a 1/10 oz gold coin before ? If not, you could be so underwhelmed when you have it in hand.

    Sharps Pixley

Their website detected that you weren't posh enough obviously ! 😎 The Sharps Pixley store is located in the posh part of London, a short walking distance from Green Park station or Piccadilly Circus station. They have been around for years. Having said that, I have only used them once. Their prices weren't as good as other dealers at the time.
  13. I have heard and read articles of large gold bars made of tungsten and wrapped in a thin layer of gold so that it passes most tests. But I have not heard about legit 1oz gold coins wrapped around a tungsten. That sounds like a lot of work as 1oz gold coins are small in size. I like to see that video if you can find it.
  14. Hello! Welcome to the forum. This is a good place for newbies to acquire knowledge on collecting precious metals.
  15. Their website certificate has been updated. The new one is valid from 19th Jan 2023 to 19th Apr 2023 (for 3 months !!! 🙄)
  16. I watched the video a couple of days ago and thought it must have been really embarassing for a seasoned bullion dealer to pass on a fake coin. But where were all the bla bla bla dialogues come from ? I watched it at x1.5 speed as I do with most YT videos and didn't hear it. 😎
  17. It sounds to me that the South African Mint are looking to emulate something like the Lunar coins series, albeit with a 5 coin series instead of twelve of Lunars. The Big 5 bullion series, a new animal every five years beginning with the elephant, followed by the lion, the rhino, the leopard and lastly, the buffalo. Then repeat the cycle.
  18. Q: How to improve the quality of Royal Mint products ? A: Outsource production to other mints abroad !
  19. Hello newbie here, hope I'm not too late to the party Better late than never ! Welcome to the forum.
  20. Hello! Welcome to the forum. You are in the right place to learn and share info on precious metals.
  21. I bet you are proud of yourself by getting into the yellow metal when you did hey ! Welcome to the forum btw.
  22. Britannia Misinformation by a Reputable Dealer A bit like a click-bait this post. I thought it was something so unforgivable that deserves capital punishment. 😎
  23. Computer equipment can become obsolete very quickly. It is by design. I think the term is planned obsolescence. This is how the industry get consumers to keep buying / upgrading. Today's smartphones are like yesterday's desktop / laptop computers. My first PC was a Gateway Pentium 75. It cost me £1,000 desktop box only back in 1995 or 1996. I upgraded RAM and HDD to run Windows 98 and maybe ME. After that it wasn't good enough or fast enough for daily use and was discarded. Image how much £1,000 I would have bought in gold or silver at that time. It's good that they don't become obsolete anytime soon ! 😎
