1.77g chain
2.53g chain
crucifix
11.86g chain
Are all provisionally sold. That took about 20 seconds, amazing! Just shows that keenly priced gold will always sell.

is this how you remove mounts then with a soldering iron? i always thought it was through direct heating of the coin whilst holding the mount, but this can damage coin. i have loads of mounts id love to remove but never know how without too much coin damage.

Soldering iron isn’t hot enough to do that max temp of one is circa 425 degrees

Cover it in flux and hit it with a torch (joke)

I miss all of my lovely soldering and electronics gear. I can still picture my beautiful workbench

Before I jump down a rabbit hole, what type of solder is generally/historically/mostly used for sovereign pendants etc?

Lead or silver solder.

You’re hoping it’s lead as it’s a lot easier to work with than silver solder that’s far more tricky.

Youll already be aware of fumes 👍🏻

I love fixing up old vintage analogue through hole audio gear, quite successful at it considering I taught myself through books and YouTube videos.

Nice one.

Its a Hakko I’m after mate, just bought a Leister for removing ic’s a great piece of kit that lets you choose the air/temp separately to avoid blowing other semi conductors off boards.
