1885 Queen Victoria Young head

John

Recommended Posts

1885 Queen Victoria gold Sovereign, with the Young Head design by Royal Mint chief engraver William Wyon. Production of this coin ran between 1871 and 1887.

The reverse features the traditional George and Dragon design. The S mint mark below the Queen's neck denotes the Sydney Mint in Australia; the first of three Royal Mint refineries opened in Australia during the Victorian era.

If this is a sales thread it needs moving to the selling section.

Also...either this is an amazing fake or you have mixed up your pictures....

Queen Elizabeth was not alive in 1885 🙂

If it is infact a young head VICTORIA 1885 I sold 35 of these this weekend for £382 + post each

That is your bench mark, spot price has dropped a little since then though.

Yes , it was in a pendent. I cleaned it up with some baking soda.

Did you have this coin in a ring or pendant as it looks highly polished?

Still plenty of details

Yes, I still have the pendent setting. I cleaned the coin with some baking soda.
