How did your love of sovereigns get started ?

I can remember watching super ice cool Sean Connery in 'From Russia With Love' like it was yesterday.....

When Q gives him a super spy briefcase with 50 gold sovereigns hidden , it stuck with me & I made a mental note to get some one day !

As they are good enough for the Secret Service & traded the world over - it seems a logical coin to want to own

Welcome to the forum. Sovereigns are great! Until I bought one for the first time on here the last time I had touched one was as a kid and that was one of grandads coins!

Welcome to the forum. Its primal with me. Gold has always fascinated me. Moved more in to sovereigns years later when life, funds, and an interest in the history of the coins gripped me again and allowed me to. No matter what you think about sovereigns there's always more to discover.

I inherited one. 🙂  Then a few years later treated myself to a brand new one for a milestone birthday.  And have bought a few with significant dates on since.

It's only recently that I noticed the sovereign strip in Bond's case, never picked up on it before, and I've watched the films many times over the years.

To be honest, I don't like gold at all (it's yellow😁). I started stacking some only to diversify my stash, and sovereigns just seem like the most affordable and liquid gold coin one could choose. 🙂
