Trial of the pyx

Hi all, I've noticed some coins on the Royal Mint site that have been inspected at the Trial of the Pyx, I assumed this made them more desirable to collectors but they don't seem to be being snapped up as fast as I would expect if that were the case, have I misunderstood the situation?

Depends what you are after. These will all have marks/ damage from the process of the trial. They will have a numismatic value, however, most people don’t want a damage coin. You will find that the cheaper ones have long since sold.

Ahh thankyou for the information, i expected them all to be snapped up immediately due to the prestige of the trial of the pyx but a number of coins (even the cheaper ones) seem to be hanging around on the royal mint site far longer then I expected

I think it’s a combination of getting a coin you like PLUS the fact it’s been tested at the TotP.

All the Sovs and Great Engravers (Gothic Crown) coins have indeed gone.

What’s left are the runts of the litter, and the super expensive ones which only people with really deep pockets and disposable income can afford.

Thankyou for the information although 2 mins ago I saw they still had 7 quarter sovs left for sale in sealed packs with trail of the pyx printed on them, am I miss understanding something?

There's only one left, out of the seven they had.

And it seems to be sold now.

Thw Double Sov is available for £1,200 but that’s out of my budget.

Ahh I've been distracted and missed the action, being new to this game I'd already missed the beautiful quarter Oz proof Britannia for £750 by the time I'd done a bit of research and yes the double was out my range this week  as well, now I know a little more il be a bit quicker off the mark next year if I'm still here fighting the good fight
