Today's error - temporary removal of the spot price bar

Apologies for the downtime of roughly an hour today.

After several developers investigated it was found to be caused by the spot price bar which was attempting to get the spot price data from the data feed we pay a subscription for, but this data server was down and as it could not collect the data it resolved in crashing the forum. I have written to the particular developer who we hired to implement this spot price API to ask if they can add a fail safe to stop this from happening in the future. For the moment we have disabled this plugin and therefore there is currently no spot price bar.

If you are not a Premium Member already please do consider upgrading your membership to support TSF . A large proportion of membership fees goes directly into maintenance costs such as developers, who are expensive to hire. BUMPing this old forum announcement because it is relevant to today's downtime:

Apologies for the down time today, after working with a developer friend today we managed to finally diagnose the issue as being exactly the same as what happened above in October 2022 (please feel free to read the original post above). 

The developer had at the time updated their application, and we believed that this issue would not repeat itself. However, something was obviously missed. I will need the developer of the application to recheck and release an update before we can enable the spot price bar.

Temporarily have disabled the prize draw page and the compare prices page, as something also just caused the forum to crash. Currently away from computer so unable to investigate in detail, but hopefully that should stop it from crashing again before I am able to investigate in detail🤞

TSF email notification system back up and running. Prize Draw page also re-enabled and doesn’t seem to be causing any issues.

Have enabled the compare page again to see if it is producing errors. If the forum crashes then it is because of that, though we are around so will be able to fix any such issues ASAP 😁
