I have coins marked received still after 2 months in received, coins that have been graded yet no grades given and sitting in quality control for another month.

What timescale would you normally expect?

I guess that is because of a big surge in demand.

I am less convinced by the accuracy of their grading though.

Is this really AU50?

Or is it a fake or doctored slab?

I would have reckoned VF, give or take!

Maybe PCGS (whom this thread is about) would be more accurate than NGC (who graded this coin)?

Nevertheless, according to your own grading scale comparison, AU50 corresponds with very fine in the UK, so all should be ok?

Thanks for reminding me that the thread was about PCGS. I was also aware that NGC appear to have similar backlogs. probably for the same reasons.

I must admit that I do tend to regard PCGS and NGC as almost interchangeable. I know there have been endless debates for many years about which is better or more accurate, and this does reinforce my opinion.

Again, a fair point about "our" grading scale equivalents, but this one still made me blink. It arrived in the same batch as this, which is probably worse:

Particularly as there are two small scratches.

I thought there was also a third slabbed sovereign with them, but can't find the photo.
