Recommended Posts

The Perth Mint are very good at announcing sell-outs on most of their coins.

Here is one announcement we received today:

I think if we didn't have the punitive 20% VAT on Platinum our Royal Mint could also sell out its next releases.
I am looking for the QB Yale and Greyhound but might find it cheaper to book a holiday down under and bring them back in my pocket with loose change.

They always sell out lunars quickly, and often others too, but this is just at the mint. It doesn't mean they have all been sold at retail, just that they are in the hands of the dealers and possibly wholesalers.

Yes, that's understood, but I posted the notice for general interest.

It does mean that distributors can no longer replenish, and it is part way to a complete sell-out.

Yes I understood your motive and thanks. I was commenting on your pointing out the PM are very good at announcing sell outs. I believe they do this to blow their own trumpet and it also has the effect of creating FOMO and justifying higher prices.

Probably, but I appreciate the fact that they communicate this, which seems not to happen at the RM, or if it does, not in a simple factual way.

It is also quite good to be able to find historic information about sell-out dates.
