Exposing FRAUD And DECEPTION In The Retro Video Game Market

It was posted by Karl Jobst, and has been discussed and linked on Reddit.

"My scathing review of the current retro video game bubble is out! These people don't care about video games, they just care about taking your money"

I will not attempt to describe it in full detail, but it involves or mentions:

Mark Haspell and Deniz Kahn of Wata Games

PWCC

Tulipmania

The Great Coin Bubble of the 80's

PCGS

RSE Archive LLC Rally RD

Eric Naierman

Merrill Lynch

NCI

Heritage Capital Corps.

James Halperin

Certified Rare Coin Galleries (CRCG)

Ebay

The press and media in general for helping to promote and distribute propaganda issued by the interested parties.

So, while I do not expect many TSF members to be Retro Video Game collectors or "investors", I think this video is educational and worth watching.

Central bankers are politicians disguised as economists or bankers. They’re either incompetent or liars. So, either way, you’re never going to get a valid answer.” - Peter Schiff

Sound money is not a guarantee of a free society, but a free society is impossible without sound money. We are currently a society enslaved by debt. My favourite chat up line - J'adorerais te mettre dans la pipe.

I would also recommend reading the book the psychology of money.

This is a market I have a small interest in and sales of graded games have been contenous for a couple years now. Its grabbing more attention now though because of the 7 figure prices several graded games have now achieved. What is interesting about what is happening in this market is how against it the traditional collector base is. Not just against it but seemingly bewildered by it. A sealed and graded copy of Mario64 sold for $1.56 million in early July. Many high profile collectors in the retro game market were quick to express their bewilderment all noting that this isn't a rare game. Indeed Mario64 would have been one of (if not the most) produced game(s) for the Ninteno 64. There are many known examples of not just sealed versions of the game but sealed cases in which its estimated several of the copies in each case would grade this high. The "value" is completely artificial. Speculation as to why has run rife.

I know one thing for sure. If I owned any collectable sealed retro games I'd be sending them off to be graded and sold before this odd bubble pops!
