Condition of secondhand silver

Is this acceptable condition for a secondhand bar? One of the bars I got from Atkinsons.

If I were to sell it would I be expected to discount to account for the condition?

Disappointingly damaged, but you bought a used bar sight unseen.

I'd say it's a lesson learned.

If you want new, buy new.

Just wondering if that was the sort of damage that is considered acceptable and typical of unseen sales. Also not LMBA as stated on the site. Oh well!

Looks like the condition you'd expect to find on something from a metal detecting hunt, not from a dealer.

If it was advertised as being LMBA, and it clearly isn't, tell them your not happy and see what they say.

How is it for weight?

I think I'd be disappointed by this, would put me off future purchases.

I emailed atkinsons about that (and several other site errors)

They have offered to refund due to the LMBA mix up. Not sure how it is for weight, no scales.

Honestly It would not bother me one bit, bars are for handling and throwing at brick walls, perth mint lunars and pandas are for keeping pristine in plastic caps. 

Edit* it would bother me if it wasn't LMBA approved if that's how it was sold though...

Same, it was the LMBA bit that pushed me to send back. I have opted for a replacement bar which they have promised will be in good condition and approved.

Bullion is bullion. The only thing that matters is ASW, purity (to some), and the brand (for trust).

 

However, if mis-sold, I'd return.

looks like whoever owned that bar before thought the same about them throwing at brick walls

Degussa is a very well known refinery and as far as I know is affiliated with the LBMA. Condition is a bit ropey but as mentioned before that shouldn't be an issue with a bar especially if you got it for a good price.

Just thought I had better mention that in the end, Atkinsons ended up sending me a brand new 100g Metalor silver bar to make up for the error with the 50g bar. Not bad for £25.

Good service and will buy again.
