Perth Mint 1 Kilo

As no one else has responded I thought I would give it a go. Hopefully my advice can't do too much damage!

I got excited about kilo coins a few years ago. If you don't have one then they are a great addition to a collection as well as a talking point for family and friends (if you trust them). I use to spin mine around on the dinner table endlessly until I got therapy 🙂. Basically they look and feel great. I also assumed they would attract a premium however they didn't really fulfilled my expectations in this department. I have sold a couple easy enough but that was a few years back. I still have 3 Perth mint kilos, so who knows, in a few years time if I get back into them and you get bored of them, then you might have a buyer.

I have a couple from the Perth Mint. Really nice bits of kit!

Not tried selling them but I suspect they would not be difficult to unload

One think to watch - the plastic cases (which I think are supplied as standard on 1 kg coins) seem more prone to damage than normal size ones.  Possibly because of the size / weight of the 1kg coins.  I have a couple in the vault, both of which have cracked  edges now (purchased about 6 yrs ago).

I have one in a very 1970’s style turquoise case with COA. At the right price pretty much anything will sell and these while not low cost are also not extremely expensive either.

Just never understood the logic of owning these huge bars of silver. Probably ten oz is the highest I wold go. Larger than that I might as well hold gold instead.

It's mainly for my ego.

In normal times the 1kg coins have the lowest premiums for silver of any current offering. Lower than 1oz Britannias etc. Combine that with a possible long-term semi-numismatic gain in resale value and there's definitely some appeal to these.
