How do you long term store your stack?

Recommended Posts

This is how i store my stack,(there is another half sov in that case now) to hide it away, and protect it.How do you do yours?

My stack is a bullion orientated stack, a collectors stack has to be drooled over so how do you store that?

All this then goes in a lidded bucket. It has already saved the stack from a water leak once before with no effects to the stack.post-14-0-68182500-1427604845_thumb.jpg

Edit: the tubes and box are in plastic bags with gel bags and wrapped in sellotape and have already been marked before wrapping with smart water security pen with house number and postcode,The clear pencil case has coins in capsules with gel bags and zip bag.Bullion stacking is not sexy but it is a store of wealth.

All my silver bars are stored in separate plastic zip bags and inside a safe. My silver coins are in plastic capsules inside a lidl coin box and my gold is stored in capsules inside a little velvet bag inside my safe. Do you think I need gel packets inside the plastic bags SP?.

I put most of my sovereign in these capsule cases

I used to just have them in a pouch, but it's a much nicer presentation to be able to open the box and quickly look over everything.

Presentation does make a big difference.

Definitely, I did have my gold in capsules but now I've got a little booklet with individual pockets, it's no bigger than an A5 sheet of paper and has a capacity of 192 coins roughly sovereign sized. That's plenty!

Got given some with larger pockets for 1/2oz and 1oz coins.

A tip for stackers of boxed proof coins and bulky boxed sets.

Take your coins ( in caps ) out of their boxes and place individually / set in a ziplock bag and write the certificate number on the outside.

Store your coins in a safe place.

Place the empty boxes with their COAs in a shoe box or plastic container and store in a cupboard or under the bed.

The problem with cases is that they take up too much room in the safe, Even a big one will fill up quickly with all these series cases!

How many sovereigns have you got though?  :P

I doubt I will have more than say hmm 50, 10 a box, 5 boxes, they aren't very large

A few! It's not the sovereigns that are the problem, it's the bulky boxes needed for the silver sets.

I don't like the boxes you get for loose sovereigns and I certainly don't like the capsules. I've never seen one that doesn't allow them to rattle, even the RM proof capsules can be a bit dodgy. I must confess to being a bit OCD about my sovs, almost to the level of Dave and his pandas!

The enthusiasm you call OCD is really a good thing and not OCD.

Because you and others have your enthusiasm for your specialist coins the world is a better place.

I really like my silver and gold lunars with a new interest in the Fractional gold brit brits.
