    That slab is from CPM coins.  (Coin Portfolio Management).  It would probably have come presented in a wooden box with a paper certificate initially.
    Think I would keep it in the slab personally.  Slabs tend to make a bit more money when sold on ebay, even if they're not NGC/PCGS.  Makes no difference if you sell to a dealer for spot price though.

    Thanks both. It’s an Indian mint coin and was a best value one so just wondered.

    Definitely keep that for your collection - a one year wonder 1918. The Bombay mint closed down the following year, about the time the Germany Navy was scuttling its fleet at Scapa Flow! @TheTallMan
    MMTC-PAMP, a Swiss/Indian venture minted RM sovereigns from 2013 to 2020 in carded BU quality, all sporting the ‘I’ mint mark. Location, just outside Delhi. Managed to get a couple of these 2013 & 2018. Apparently a 1/2 Sovereign had been minted in 2014. Welcome to TSF….

    It’s an aftermarket case but a nice one, personally I would remove the coin and stick it in an airtite to save space but that’s just my preference
    A nice coin as well,

    Looks to me like someone is trying to pretend it's graded,
    One of the sov experts will know for sure.

    An aftermarket case. Not a graded coin.
    Can you show the reverse? For your own interest - if there is a letter, located centrally on the ground below the horse and dragon, it will advise you which mint it is from...
    No letter = London MInt
    S= Sydney Mint
    M = Melbourne Mint
    P = Perth Mint
    I - India / Bombay Mint
    C = Canada / Ottowa Mint

    Spink reference  - 3998.
    Mintage - 1,294,372
    India Sovereigns:
    The Royal Mint expanded - albeit briefly - to Bombay (now Mumbai) in India as part of a push to increase output during the ongoing 'Great War'. The Indian refinery began production in August 1918 and ran until early 1919, with the conclusion of the First World War in November 1918 removing the need for a refinery in India.
    Nice coin to have, well done!

    India mint was only made that one year (with the exception of some modern QE II ones). A nice coin to have 🙂
