  1. Since I joined the forum I have read here that the forum way is buy in the boom and sell in the bust, so are you now telling me I've got it wrong? 😒😒
  2. Hi ZainHaider, welcome to the forum, as you posted your query 12 hours ago, I will give it a go, there are others on here who are far more experienced and if I get it wrong I am sure they will help! Basically the price (value) of gold is set worldwide, so no one country will have its "own" price, this worldwide price is known as " spot price" and can be seen as at the top of this forum or by searching for gold price and several options to track it live will come up, this will be in ounces or grams, this gives you the basic price and will fluctuate from minute to minute as dealings go on in the world, so the value of gold will be the same in Pakistan as in the UK. There are differences in what gold will COST you from country to country, these differences will be created by such things as taxes in the country and different sellers premiums, this will also be seen with different dealers within those countries, so it is possible to buy gold cheaper in other countries but then you have got, carriage cost, insurance and import duties etc etc but the basic value of the gold will be the same gram for gram or ounce for ounce. I think I have got that about right but others, I am sure, can clarify and expand on this. You will need to take the spot price, usually working in US dollars and covert to rupees, watch for the exchange rate!
  3. Ok, they may be doddering old gits (of which I am almost one of them!) but it's another take on CBCD's , admittedly a bit out of date, that no doubt the government and BofE will conveniently ignore. https://www.parliament.uk/business/lords/media-centre/house-of-lords-media-notices/2022/january-2022/central-bank-digital-currencies-a-solution-in-search-of-a-problem/
  4. Just finished watching this, a little long but worth it, some may have already seen this but for those that haven't:
  5. 337,197.04 OLD Romanian Lei £3.52 NOT "new" Romanian lei as that would be £59,840 and that's a bit steep!
  6. A nice silver tray with interesting history, if you read the inscription it brings home how things have changed when dealing with a bank! https://www.easyliveauction.com/catalogue/lot/a3ca2f6c43ecd5067a73c21d4a92ad58/0af8d24542e81eb9357e7ef448a6646f/an-auction-of-collectibles-and-antiques-lot-127/
  7. Explains why I can't find it 🙂 interested in the gold oz but getting pricey! trying to concentrate on stacking but getting side tracked 😭
  8. Thanks for that, didn't spot it trawling through RM site, not the easiest to navigate sometimes!
  9. Really like this design just feel it's let down by the obverse, the crown just looks odd, any guess at the release price?
  10. How to get totally confused, look at the live spot price on the RM site, chart is 2 hours behind, the date and time below the chart is 1 hour behind, informed them and they are going to look into it, so quality control is upto scratch!
  11. Having read this I decided to check, I have the 3 coin proof set and they are all off, to my untrained eye they all seem to be different degrees! i found it easier to check from the shield first as that is easier to judge as vertical.
  12. Bloody hell! I only started down this road at the age of 70! having sold my business I could seriously look at what to do with some money now I had some! so I have acquired myself some gold, some from dealers and some from TSF, I don't intend to sell but if I do I guess I will have to wheel myself down to the post office! not sure on your paranoia, I have had this most of my working life, a loathing of authorities and their belief that they can tell ME what I can do, it has caused me a lot of grief over the years (but I do get a secret enjoyment out of believing I am screwing up the system in my own small way, in fact it makes absolutely no difference to them) Sorry I have continued to deviate from your original post but you started it 😁
  13. I hadn't checked but thought I really should - you never know, got quite excited as the initial checks with a magnet looked quite hopefull, then realised the upper coachwork is ally! 😒
  14. I inherited the car in my avatar and brought it back from Aus, had no interest shown by anybody in "authority" I assume that once you have received an inheritance then probate has been granted, can't find any info. that says you as the receiver, has to prove that probate was granted, so inheritance tax would have been sorted under probate and if you then sell your inheritance (the gold) as long as its currency, no cgt would be payable (unlike the car possibly! 😭)
  15. Stack coins - no capital gains tax had to be paid, cash in upto £325k (todays values) so inheritance tax was not payable and tell 'em you inherited it or am I talking out of my a...h..e?
  16. andrew baker (TSV) to Anna Matulewicz Good luck Anna! £20 + £5 Gift Aid + Morrisons £20 match funding Hard day - fell asleep at the crucial time!
