  1. looked into these car clubs? might be worthwhile and prob cheaper than renting. and far easier than public transport! cardiff is not too bad for a long weekend especially if you are into the rugby - not 6 nations as its mental getting a ticket and accomodation - but united rugby championship.
  2. glad to see they are blaming the english and not the rest of us! 😛 It is a tiresome trend at the moment that absolutely everything has to be apologised for, re interpreted with various topics shoehorned into every story. ( always prefered a topic to a marathon )
  3. thought the silver proofs had the same mintage? the circ 10p figures were different https://www.changechecker.org/2021/02/02/rarest-a-z-10p-coins-revealed-2019-mintage-figures-update/
  4. but did you enjoy the daffodil wind turbine though? LOOK SQUIRREL!
  5. On fleabay? You must have got lucky at that price and am not surprised you bought them, I would have bought them myself. I have had half an eye out and the ones I have been watching went for £20 plus which is about my higher limit. So as they arent a must have, I will just keep on watching. Just checked there and there a quite a few for £30plus and a lot about £60. whether they will sell or not is another question, I would suspect the £60 ones will only go for presents than any collectors. As for the future, who knows. if you do, can i have the 6 numbers for saturday please? My guess is £10 will remain very cheap and they will settle ( apart from a couple of sought after letters ) around the £20-£30 mark.
  6. interesting. they had the same 25% off deal back in may - although at a slightly higher price. wonder why its going again - they discovered a shelf full down the back of the sofa? is there a rough guide how much extra a proof is to a normal sov? worth buying another one since other years seem to be £450 min or sticking to normal sovs at £350/360ish?
  7. £67.50 really good site for RM stuff. https://www.changerange.net/
  8. The reverse is also true though. Bletchley was more than Turing. Any idea why the dropped the silver proof price back down to £57.50? No colour?
  9. without going into specifics - although you can if you want - roughly what % drop was it?
  10. a disposable coffee cup from costa/nero/starbucks? a face mask? BLM slogan? Extinction Rebellion logo? RM sponsored by cinch?
  11. to be honest, unless i really like the coin, i am not buying either the bunc or silver proof straightaway. obviously its a gamble its not a new kew but that does seem to be an outlier. I suspect 95% will be picked up at half price or less within 2 years. This year I have seen lots of 50p & £2 silver proofs go for as low as £20 on fleabay. Now ok, a couple may not be the most popular, but this year I have got ( release price in brackets ) 2018 Paddington Palace Silver Proof 26 ( 60 ) 2018 Paddington Station Silver Proof 21 ( 60 ) 2018 Peter Rabbit Silver Proof 20 ( 60 ) 2020 RAF Vulcan Silver Proof 45.44 ( 67.50 ) 2018 Captain Cook Silver Proof 46 ( 67.50 ) 2019 Captain Cook Silver Proof 41 ( 67.50 ) A bit of patience pays off since I have seen just the bunc captain cook 2018 go for £30 plus.
  12. it is a 30 day return policy they have. But, if the condition is so bad it might still be worth contacting them to see if they will still do it as a gesture of goodwill.
  13. not on abe books, alibris, or amazon might be better doing a trawl of oz booksellers, thought i had got lucky first time around, but out of stock https://www.elizabethsbookshop.com.au/ this one will do an offline search and contact their contacts. https://www.readinghabit.com.au/offline-search
  14. yes. although i think he opens when he feels it more than the opening hours advertised. but hes been there for years and years. his web site is never updated though, so you cant rely on anything listed being actually near what he has in the shop or the prices. And he is really a jewellers with coins on the side rather than even half and half. this week - on display inside - he had maybe 15ish 1ozs of various mints, a few 1oz rounds, couple of bars and maybe 30 sovereigns of various sizes. so not a huge range. he might have more in the back though. think he is more competitive on the older sovereigns from my limited experience?
  15. yup. never been in the shop as it was either closed or full, but did wonder how much he was charging. The ones in the window looked in quite good nick though. suppose he has to pay that rent somehow! but still, ouch. if it was 30-33 it might be worth it for a couple of coins a month or an impulse buy as you passed by saving on postage but not that.
  16. a small one in the arcade or one just off george sq? The one off George sq offered me any of his 1oz at £36 yesterday.
  17. thats cheap. yesterday, my nearest coin ( actually a jewllers with a couple of coins ) shop was selling all their 1oz for £36 Brits/maples/roos/etc and some were pretty scruffy.
  18. so unless you kill yourself you are immortal?
  19. dont know if its of any use but American Eagles are reduced to £32 inc vat are here. Brits /Phillies/Krugs are also reduced but arent quite as good a deal to other places. https://cambridgeshirecoins.com/collections/silver-1-oz-coins
