ArgentSmith reacted to Yetiwatch in 2002-2003 Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee 24 Coin Silver Proof Set
Evening all!
I have on offer the full 24 coin proof set which consists of 24 silver coins weighing in at 28.28 grams each, totalling 678.72 grams of sterling silver or 627.816 grams of pure silver. No obvious issues with any of the coins and to my knowledge have never been handled.
I am offering the set up for £500 plus postage which is at the time of posting is around £9 over spot price.
Payment via BT.
If I receive payment tonight, I can post tomorrow.
The box is heavy, so feel free to just take the coins only.
Thanks

ArgentSmith reacted to SilverRich in Help Authenticating this $1 Australian Silver Kangaroo Coin Please
Thanks @PapaLazarou
I just wanted to make sure due to the weight and thickness as posted on Numista.
It is a lovely looking coin so glad it's all good.

All good. Jirrah-Watty - the most stunning RAM roo ever issued.
0.53g overweight - bothered?
It was issued in frosted, gilded and proof versions - let me know if you want pictures.
If I were to choose a 1oz silver frosted coin, then this would not exactly be the easiest to either forge or to find a mass market.

I'd say dem crims are pretty smart.

ArgentSmith reacted to Bratnia in Gold Monitoring Thread £ GBP only
The 2008/9 financial crisis pretty well transitioned bail out of banks who speculated to where states/countries took on that role. Insider trading and counterfeiting are of course perfectly legal for some. As is protection money, hostage taking etc.

Gently place in a small glass, cover in washing up liquid and fill with boiling water from the kettle. Leave for 30, minutes, rinse thoroughly in cold water and pat dry with kitchen paper. Do not wipe as it may induce scratches. Allow to air dry for a further 30 minutes, place back in capsule and should be like new.
Never try the above with a proof coin obviously.

ArgentSmith reacted to Wampum in Platinum monitoring thread £ GBP only
There was an article about BASF where they had successfully produced a tri-metal cat which could replace up to 50% of the Palladium with Platinum.
I think testing began in 2021, however they said that there would be no real change until 2023 when the CAT would start to appear in the market, this is from what I remember so would need further research.
I have not really seen much since other than the odd snippet.
I changed to buying and keeping mostly Platinum when this first came out, and I am the same now,
however that's because I like the Metal in coin form as much as an investment, which is the main thing .
Japan too is trying to increase it's Hydrogen use to 12 million tons by 2040, all of which will need Platinum as a Catalyst, and that is just in Japan.
This was something I saw last year;
https://www.hydrogeninsight.com/electrolysers/bottleneck-hydrogen-electrolysers-could-require-more-of-the-worlds-platinum-reserves-than-previously-thought/2-1-1511811
Having said all this, there are a few people saying that they will be able to reduce the need for PMG in hydrogen production so swings and roundabouts.
I collect it cause it's shiny!!!

Platinum is still very cheap indeed relative to gold. And although the price has ticked up a little over the past few weeks, it hasn't moved up anywhere near as much as silver and gold have in the last few months.
I still want to add another few ounces to my collection over the next 2-3 years so in some ways I hope the price stays low until then. Specifically, I want to buy the remaining three Tudor Beast Lions and Dragons once they are released, plus one more coin (for example the TB Completer if they make it). So just another 4 physical ounces please and then I'm done.
Afterwards, platinum can absolutely go to the moon 😀
