  1. Spot is so high now, close to highest... so this is probably my last purchase for a while! Finally got my hands on a panda - it’s so lovely in person - like others said, like a proof coin!

    Soapy bath?

Thanks so much for the responses guys! My exact thought re warm water and soap/washing up liquid, as it’s not changing the surface rather than onto removing dirty ti should be OK! I actually used the hair dryer when I tested it on one of my bullions and it was perfectly fine. I found that if I soak it a bit first in warm/hot water, then rub it gently as you’d at PJRay, it comes out even better.
  3. Thanks for bringing this back on topic! And thanks for sharing. May I ask if anyone knows what it means when it says it should not be resold as “bullion”?
  4. I'm pretty OCD with these things so i hate not being able to stack my slabs up if i have mostly NGC and a few PCGS, so i aviod PCGS for this reason - even if i do get some on na good deal, i'll probably get them re-slabed for consistency in collection. But thats just me! In general you may find NGC easier to sell as they are more popular among collectors.

    Soapy bath?

I've read on some articles that it's OK to give older sovereigns, or gold coins a gentle bath with soap or washing up liquid and water? I've tried it with one of my very old and won sovereigns and it does bring out the shine! Just wondering, does it devalue the coin if you do it to a better conditioned one? e.g. washing to remove the black stuff that accumulates? Will it negatively impact grade (if grading in the future)/resell? Thanks.
  6. Fair point - this train of thought and criticism I agree with 100% - I just felt there was a lot of hate directed in the wrong way.
  7. Just got mine today too, had a chat with a nice guy on the phone yesterday - he tried to sell me a proof but i politely declined. I feel we are vilifying these guys a bit too much without them being here to defend themselves - I know we wouldnt like it if we were in thier shoes. No one likes being talked about in such ways behind thier backs. We know it's a marketing move, nothing is free in this world, so buying at below spto does come with them trying to upsell on the phone, I'm OK with that... I for one, I'm grateful we can participate in this deal - i hope other dealers will do deals like this too! THanks @Coolsmp!! And thanks to H&B for the great deal! Lets be possitive, grateful, rather than hateful.
  8. me too, quite like The Who - so thought i'd get one and jump on the hype train haha
  9. Hi all, one of my friend is going to Ireland soon - and i thought that it could be a good opportunity for him to bring back some silver for me, is this a good idea? I noticed some European dealers are selling 1kg bars at around £700... which is much cheaper here... If so, does anyone know some good dealers that i can order to his parents house ready to be collected? Basically is there any good ways to take advantage of this trip for some cheap stacking silver? Thanks! PS. i'm actually 90% gold at the moment (onyl have 1 tube of silver brits and a few 10oz QBs), but with gold going up and silver staying put i thought this may be good timing!

    Why is this a PF70?

😆😭 Thanks guys, will get back in touch with the seller... just not great that even PF70 coins has to be looked over somewhat, i'm new to this, so thought that a PF70 would be as good as gold!

    Why is this a PF70?

WOW... thanks @GoldDiggerDave. But why would they do that, why dont they just grade it lower! would you return this if you got it?

    Why is this a PF70?

Not close up enough to see these - but you are right, we buy pf70 because we dont want coins with flaws 😕 should be able to trust NGC! If not the royal mint... Yes pic below - why do you ask?

    Why is this a PF70?

Thanks Pete, i bought this graded just a few days ago, the marks are defnitely on the coin, it looks like the matt finish didnt apply to certain parts of the letters... agree, not a good proof at all. It's even worse under a loupe as the other letters are also not finished well.

    Why is this a PF70?

Lol! Another photo with a blue circle
  15. Just received this a few days ago, but upon a closer look - noticed some flaws on the coin, as per picture - how is this a PF70?? You can clearly see flaws on the letters “E” and “L” very noticeable to the naked eye... what are your thoughts guys? Would you keep this?
  16. How did you order? the checkout function seems to be broken, couldnt progress...
  17. Thanks @Tn21 @GenX great watch - just what i need, more reasons to buy Gold!! 😅
  18. Two more for the collection - total 8 right now!!!!! Hard to believe I managed to get so many. Anyone else have unicorn and/or falcon?
  19. Thanks so much for this mate, this is a great response and super helpful. Appreciate it! Interesting re premiums, they do seem high, i guess it's a supply/demand thing, which makes sense, they seem not easy to get hold of here, as you say also - but i also thought high premiums was passed on from Bank of China... but it sounds like that's not the case. very, very interesting they can be had for lower premiums than sovs! Being Chinese, I have family in China, and even an office in SH from my business also! So is it better if i buy them directly from China? Do you know? Thanks again!
  20. it wasn't me unfortauntely, i think it was some gold finger spying on us
  21. thanks for the photo @trozau - wonder if UK dealers keep them like that. also wondered how you'd keep them as i'm pretty OCD and have all my coins in the same air-tites. if i do get them i will keep them in packaging also. @GoldenGriffin - enjoy, keep it! Also just noticed atkinsons sold out 2021 - it had stock yesterday and for months before - chards mix dates also sold out, is someone watching this thread and buying before me? hahahahaa guess i will leave it for now then!
  22. this is epic, thanks, doubt i will ever go into that much detail, but interesting to see there are serious enthusiasts out there! Awsome, that's a great present! 1984 too, gold was 270 pounds an oz back then! OMP as in original packaging? do they come in plastic vacuums?
  23. Thanks so much guys, appreciate the info. @trozau - what an epic collection, please post some pictures if you have photos already! Would love to see them together. Thought not sure how you've managed to stop the run, i would be addicted after that long. let me know if you are thinking of liquidating them WIll pick up the book also. But think i will start by getting the 2021 coin...! @GoldenGriffin - thought you stack 1oz gold coins? Or are you purely proof man?
  24. interesting, thanks for the info mate! not fussed about thier liquidity speed as i want to hold my collection. but good to know! can't wait to see one in person!
