  1. Quick update, i've sent it back today - wish me luck guys!
  2. Thanks, unfortunately my quarter is also bad, it has 2/3 pin p**** spots on the obverse... i was going to let that go if 5 sov was submit worthy...
  3. @GoldDiggerDave - thanks for the insights, always surprised what conservation can do, hence asking the question here. On reflection, given its a premium product, i think i will send it back and try for a replacement, wish me luck! @SilverDrum - great video, amazing how they can get the mirror finish from hand polishing.
  4. Hello all, was very excited - and scared - as always when a new RM shipment comes in… unfortunately the time there is a bit of problem. The 5 sov has a lot of uniform lines across the field - kind of like die polish marks from older proofs… but this is new and I doubt they polish the die still? hard to photograph but it’s all over the field and very uniform so I took photos with different angles showing different spots. I know a lot of problem conserve on moderns - so was wondering if anyone had this with other modern coins from RM that either graded 70 or conserved to be 70? maybe @GoldDiggerDave and @CoinsOfTheRealmAuctions as I know you guys grade a lot. should I try and grade or just straight back to RM blind QC people? thanks in advance!
  5. People on this thread are like an angry mob 😅 but they are nice once they are reminded of the points you mentioned every 50 or so pages...
  6. Just injecting some Friday positivity back in this thread to balance out the atmosphere, I'm keeping my order, nothing has changed except for the delivery date, these still are: A great design by JC. The very first coin of a new monarch. Part of the, arguably, most popular coin series in the world with the most collectors (i.e. massive demand now and in the future). Different to all other modern series. And, although mintage figures are high, they are still much lower than 1989, 2002 and 2005. If anything, the demand may be higher due to the cancellations. I stand by my comment about 100 pages ago, though I enjoy the 360s in this thread. Nothing is 100%, but we are likely seeing the complete collapse of coin market if these fail to appreciate in the short, medium and long term. Strong hands guys! Remember to look at the facts and analyse for yourself rather than be swayed by other people's opinions and mood.
  7. Thanks, i will get my account manager to hoover those up
  8. If they do it will be the end of thier most important product line - and even the collectivie business mind at RM is not that stupid.
  9. Really hard to say, in my humble opinion, i'd say the price metnioned earlier is about market for the raw set - at 16/17k to cover for risk with grading, few thousand less if wanting to sell urgently and few thousand more if there is a keen buyer. A small spot on the obverse near the Queen's neck on the frosting. Would be interested to hear i yours has it also?
  10. I would say at 17/18k for a raw set is about market - rather than a bargain (13/14k would be a bargain :)). Good buy for the long run, or if you get lucky and the 5 sov comes back a 70. The prices you quoted are mostly lifted up by the 5 sov in PF70. And we all know the mark up on PF70 coins in our game. In PF69, the 5 sov is closer to 5/6k, rather than 14/15k in PF70. So big difference. And there is a known flaw with the 5 sov, I know of 2 that got a 69 for the same flaw. Either way I still think it’s a great set!
  11. Hope so, at this rate the St. George will soon become the rare special reverses...😅
  12. Pretty much every other coin - i.e. the entire hobby - has to flop before a British sovereign release for a new monarch flops
  13. Coins like these proofs are also always much nicer in hand (below compared to retail photo for example). I think this new design will be incredible in person, once they land, they will increase in demand, especially in the larger 5 sov format. You all gonna regret not buying a ton now I’m with Dave on this in the bullish flipper camp.
  14. Always been a fan of JC designs and this time is no different. Not to say TN isn’t goodC I really like it, but personally, I much prefer the hyper detail and more realism style of JC interpretation of the shield. Normally ‘less is more’ - but I think he even gets away with such a complex design without much white space. An achievement in itself. I think JC design will be a big plus point for the future desirability of this coin. If 2014 Brit, QB, are anything to go by - people like his work. Absolute beauty, and can’t wait to see it in hand.

  16. Count me in please Will also add a few other small bits later.
  17. Agree 100%. Hype might die down, but 2022 proofs of any size are almost guaranteed to have a high premium in years to come - something i could not say about gimmick RM money grabbing editions like Queens Beasts reverse proofs (very different to the original QB), or Tudor Beasts, Music Legends, Bond, etc. etc. Sure, these are also money grabbing products, but variations of sovereigns have WAY more demand, and always will, demand for these will keep increasing and supply is not.
  18. Thanks! That's what i thought too - potentially "1 over I" - will speak to NGC and see what they say, but i dont have an account manager though, not a VIP like you!
  19. Thanks for the photography tips - unfortunately I don’t have a macro lens camera nor iPhone 13 pro But did my best with 30x zoom loupe and bog standard camera. Kind of looks like a “I” under the “1”? It doesn’t look like another “1” underneath? Thanks!
  20. Thanks mate, this is super useful! Will do some more research on the internet!
  21. Thank you @LawrenceChard - was hoping you would chime in! Yes it's a shield sovereign I do not have a micro lense, but i can try take one with even bigger zoom on my loop and crop later at home - is there a chance this is the one in Marsh "1 over inverted 1", or likely not? Best, Arnold
  22. Thanks for the info!
  23. Hello all - any experts here can help me with this coin please? The “1” in date looks like a double strike, but Marsh only has “1 over inverted 1” as a variation for this year - is this that? Or just a “normal” coin? Thanks! Ps. This is different to the coin I will submit to NGC, mentioned in the other tread, this one I’m not sure…
  24. Hi all, quick question please for those that grade - if I have a variation coin such as “4 over inverted 4” Victoria shield sovereign, do i HAVE to start a new form and tick the “mint error” in add on services? I.e. if I submit under just the gold tier with my other coins they will not label it as “4 over inverted 4” even if I put that as a description in “mintmark” field? Thanks I’m advanced for answers!
  25. https://tavexbullion.co.uk/gold/british-sovereign-2022-gold-bullion/ 2022 sovereign at 356, great price compared to other dealers.
