  6. I did put this image on another thread, but this is what I understand the 2023 Proof sovereigns to look like. We are already taking pre-orders.
  7. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to have kept them all instead of selling them at Mint price, then watching them sell for double. 😢
  8. All I can say is we have today started offering the 2023 Proof Sovereigns for pre-order to our newsletter subscribers, and those who purchased last years proof sovereigns from us. Its true to say the launch information is embargoed by the Royal Mint but it does appear that some have their ear to the ground in this thread. We will shortly be making the pre-order system (a small deposit) more widely available shortly. Based on the information from the Royal Proclamation this is what we think the 2023 proof sovereign will look like : (concept image)
  9. My apologies, I followed the link and saw it was the standard coin and presumed, no I have not heard of the reverse frosting edition. I have removed my comment because I did not want it to look like an advert..
  10. The SOTD sovereigns will sell out quite quickly, we only managed to secure a few, but we have all the other coins in the coronation collection available to order now. We have sold out of the 1/40th gold from the ounce range and only have two 1/4oz left.
  11. Well Mr Adder Its called service 'with a smile and a stab', they are due to launch the red hot poker shortly 😀
  12. According to a page that appeared on the RM website for less than a day before it was removed, the 1/4oz is £750 with a mintage of 1250. They are actually proving very popular we have sold quite a few this week. The £5 crowns and 50ps are selling well too, the few SOTD we have secured all sold to pre-order customers. All the RM prices and mintages are officially embargoed until Monday but some information has leaked out into the public domain.
  13. We have not given any exact release dates, I don't know them, only to say that all these coins will be released around the time of the Coronation +/- days or a few weeks.
  14. From the information in the public domain via the proclomation, I have put this concept image together : There is nothing to say that this years 2023 sovereign will not just be a return to the standard St George & Dragon.
  15. I think RM have worked that out and now have a new coin release almost daily, they need to slow the issues down a little. I started in 2002 with 5 x shield sovereigns I bought for £70 each, if anyone still has them at that price I am happy to take 5 more 😀
  16. There is no doubt that getting hold of high grade (MS60+) has got more and more difficult over the past decade, and the prices for the best shields are on the rise. Its also a similar story for the jubilee head sovereign. I think we will only see the traditional market get stronger as collectors turn their backs on the Royal Mint's flooding of the modern market.
  17. We have had a couple of sovereigns back, and one qtr sovereign, unlike the RM we exchanged the coins within a week. I would support the other dealer mentioned in that we need to check a lot of these coins and its really difficult to spend a huge amount of time on every single coin to make sure it has 100% of its frosting. Most of us do our very best, as these originally come from the RM, customers who buy from third parties are getting 2 quality checks.
  18. I did some early work on tails many years ago, so these images are not the best, but do show all 3 tail lengths and you can see they terminate differently. I hope it helps:
  19. I just gone through 10, 3 coin sets and every one has its qtr sov out of position, terrible!
  20. I am really upset at the 3 coin sets, I received my batch for customers with these tacky rubber inserts instead of the nice wooden ones we normally see. I note on the RM website they actually hid the boxes and didn't show them when selling. Its a real shame I cannot do this for all of our customers as I don't have enough spare wooden inserts, but this is what the set should look like :
  21. Here is our photo of the 2022 Charles III Proof Full Sovereign, taken on a S7 Edge mobile phone :
  22. They can sell them as secondhand coins when returned, so the mintage won't change.
  23. That's nothing, this is my favourite one of the Queen :
  24. As a dealer trying ti work out just what RM are trying to do to the market? Of all the coins / sets we have seen for Charles so far, I think the 5 coin set is the one to have here if you can stretch to it. Nearly 6k is a lot to part with in up to 3 months in advance, its killed the order then flip market, but once they are actually in peoples hands these will go up in value. It also has history on its side, no other different reverse set is available today for anything close to its launch price. Another coin I like is the 2oz Gold Memorial £200, issue limit 650, but not sold out and these will be withdrawn on 31/12 so we could well see a significantly reduced final number. Get ready for the Coronation releases, I have heard they maybe issuing an upside down set as well 🤣
