take the figures with a pinch of salt, but the
timing could still be correct.

Still stacking at current prices, but only the odd quarter now and again.
The 1/4 Brit on HGM on Friday, was a 2010, not a design I have had in hand before.

hold insurance in hand(physical gold/silver). things that you
plan to flip on market fluctuations should be lowest premiums
and most liquid, eg paper pms and junk. the risk on low
premium silver is you must get it right or there's a long wait
before you're in profit. those who bought junk silver in 2011
have some waiting before breaking even. your buying
preference and volume should be determined by your strategy.

the punishment yet to come from the eu may push gold a little higher.
(notice how gold(%) is leading silver in this rise)

shield side looks a bit like an ancient coin from boetia.
maybe a modern token or tourist item?

No it's a crap design and with no contrast, low relief and the hardly inspiring finish of modern sovs. The proof just about rescues it but even then, the design is poor.

Not sure which bookies you've been looking at, but the stay odds have been drifting quite a bit in the last few days.
Betfair was down to 1/5 for a remain, now it's around 1/3. Leave was 5/1, now its down to around 11/4
I think you are missing the point regarding leaving the EU. The UK would NOT be erecting any walls. In fact leaving would enable us to dismantle the walls put up by the EU with the rest of the world outside of the EU. The UK is more than happy to trade freely with the EU, we just don't want to put up with daft unworkable rules, created by unelected officials, and then having to pay for all of it. We can trade freely with the EU, without filling the pockets of Brussels, and we would be able to trade freely with the rest of the world.
I can remember a time when our shops were full of cheap New Zealand lamb and butter, with adverts for these products on our TV every day. The EU put a stop to that. I can remember the "Buy British" campaigns, but the EU said Non to that. The French farmers burn a few tyres, block a few roads and they get massive subsidies and we end up paying more for goods
I can remember our fishermen having one of the greatest fleets in the world, and our seas being full of Cod, Herring, etc. But the the EU allowed the Spanish to raid our waters with their factory ships, (Drake would be spinning in his grave), and our fishing fleet is decimated and is now a shadow of what it was.
I can remember the butter mountains and grain stockpiles caused by the Common agricultural policy, that actually raised food prices, and stopped developing countries from selling cheap food to us.
Was all this MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL for us..................do me a favour.
As for trade embargoes, I'm not sure you've realised this, but they have NOTHING to do with economics, and are political measures to put pressure on countries whose policies have an adverse effect on their neighbours and the rest of the world.

HawkHybrid got a reaction from ApisMellifera in Why are newer sovereign's 'browner' ?
newly minted sovereigns are a rose pink shiny gold colour.
weathered versions I think go a darker matte rose gold
colour a bit like a lighter version of circulated pennies.
chards claims that a small amount of silver in old sovereigns
are responsible for it's yellow gold colour.
the mint would guarantee a fixed weight of gold per
sovereign so this would limit the impurities count?

my thought is that we'll not reach as low as $1200 again
for the rest of the year. we could still have a light pullback
from this point to dip towards or even lower than $1240
(~6% pullback from $1300, watch the dollar index). the
year to date average should still be ~$1180 so should be
slowly increasing as we continue throughout the year. this
would cause miners to trend higher overall as they bag
more profit with each sale. I'm still waiting for a move
towards a more favourable entry point for some mining
stocks. it is suggested that the current price movements
are designed to keep people on the sidelines with unclear
and shorter trading moves.

physical holdings should play the long cycle.
paper trading should play the shorter cycles.
if one trader gains it means another trader loses.
unlike investing where all holders can gain or lose
at the same time.
allocated silver has it's place but may not be most
suitable for everyone.

our opinions for the 2015 britannias was: matt is fine as
long as it's done nicely like the frosted matt done by perth
mint.
the design on both sides is jcs work but the actual matt
background is not his fault. it's more likely a marketing
decision to force all later bullion 999 coins with the same
matt to hide errors. (just as too shiny proof backgrounds
are also not the artist fault)
HH
-
HawkHybrid got a reaction from KDave in Today I Received.....
the matt background is not designed by jc, as it was
first available on 2015 britannias which still featured
the earlier irb obverse. there's little objection to the
5th portrait, people just don't like the matt fields.

the new matt background is designed to hide imperfections/errors,
not remove them. it doesn't mean the qc is any better than it used
to be.
(it'll take more time to separate those that are mutton dressed up as
lamb)

we all make mistakes, what differentiates a better bullion dealer/seller is
that they are prepared to give refunds on every mistake. rule of thumb,
check every trade.
