  2. Cracking design on this one, CGT exempt and priced close to spot - what’s not to like? 19.619g of 22k = 17.984g actual gold 17.984 x £51.76/gram (spot) = £931 gold at spot. At a 2% premium that comes to £949 all in. RMSD included. BT or PPF&F Comes with box & CoA. Selling as bullion. Thanks for looking 👍
  3. Completely agree with Orpster - track record is very supportive long term for the price growth of the special years. I've seen PF70 memorial sovs trading around the £500-550 mark and PF70 coronations £550-600. I think if you picked them up at those prices, bunged them in a safe for 5-10 years and then came back odds are you would be pleasantly surprised at how they had done. Dont pay retail price for them though - second hand bargains in top grade at PF70 is the way forward for these two releases until the market settles down.
  4. Any 40th birthdays? For sale: Full - £425 + post Half - £215 + post **Offer** - Buy both for £630 RMSD included Selling as bullion BT/PPF&F both fine Thanks for looking 👍
  5. I have a spare, its a blue FR label PF70 so not quite what you are after, but you can always reholder to brown if you prefer £240 Cheers
  6. @Leonmarsh in a purely hypothetical capacity, given the cheapness of a coin this uncommon, what do I do if my keks are already competing for space with my carpet underneath my heels?
  7. Albeit the lack of a bullion alternative in the mid 90s forces anybody looking to do a date run in to the low mintage proofs which underpins prices a bit along with the small mintages - whereas bullions will be plentiful and cheaply available here.
  8. Good to see they’ve brought the 5 and 2 sov mintages way down, but I don’t think this will save these coins from being a steer clear and buy on the secondary market in years to come.
  9. I personally wouldn’t buy a KC 75th birthday sotd. In my view the 3 key dates are the 2017 200th anniversary, the platinum jubilee and the coronation SOTD sovs which I have in MS70. For the rest they are on my skip list but there is a growing community of collectors picking these up and some of the issues are very low mintage so might end up being in a tight spot like the 2016 5 sovs in years to come.
  10. 1 - completely agree, and stick to g&d for a few years as they have been milking the ‘specials’ train a lot recently. 2 - can’t see this compelling many to buy, would be like the privy marks which don’t seem to get much love. 3 - not a bad call - the risk here might be you end up with what’s happened to the Britannias - popular standard design bullion range being successful but they’ve killed their sales on the outrageously priced proofs. 4 - feels a bit of a gimmick given they’ve been out of use for so long. Something you’d do at Jorvik museum rather than the RM 😂 Sadly I think what we’ll get is a flop this year followed by a panic in 2025 as they seek to pump their commemorative sales. The mention of it being the 200th anniversary of the shield sovs in 2025 I think is quite a prescient observation - if 2024 flops then the temptation to do another ‘special’ may be irresistible.
  11. Definitely not one to set the alarm for on launch day - odds are these will be available at a discount to rrp from dealers within a few days of launch.
  12. One of the rarer Britannias out there - a 2007 Platinum proof half ounce. Apart from the 2008 sets I don’t think there are any other half oz platinum Britannia proofs produced (happy to be corrected on that!). These were only available in the 4 coins sets which had a very limited mintage run of 250 (vs 1250 for the gold proof sets) - 2007 RM sales figures Add a nice rarity to your stack! £650 RMSD included BT or PPF&F Thanks for looking 👍
  13. Memorial sovs for sale -pf69s 1/4 - 125 each 1/2 - 275 RMSD included BT or PPF&F thanks for looking 👍
  14. There’s a lot of sovereign stock hanging round with dealers and at the mint so certainly it’s taking a bit of time for the market to absorb them. You have to view it in the context of what’s going on with their business at the moment - circulating coinage is in terminal decline so commemorative coins and bullion are their big hopes. Let’s hope they don’t kill their golden goose by flogging the sovereign range to death in an attempt to try and keep revenues up.
  15. I can’t see there being an investment case around it being the first ‘normal’ Sov for KCIII. We’ve had his first Sov (the memorials) and his coronation - both are trading at substantial discounts due to the market being flooded and the RRP is now very poor value. I think it’s almost certainly a skip on release and pick up on the secondary for £425-450 in a few years time like you can do with the 19s/21s etc if you really must have it!
  16. Hopefully we go back to normal portrait and G&D so I can give it a skip and rehabilitate the old bank balance after all the special releases in recent years!
