  1. Bought the set for the 1981 sovereign so moving the crown on cheaply. 28.28 grams of Sterling x 0.925 = 26.16 grams of pure silver x £0.58 per gram (spot value) --> £15.17 of silver Selling for £14 + postage of your choice. Box & CoA come with it, sovereign stays with me BT or PPF&F Selling as bullion Thanks for looking 👍
  2. I bought a 4 coin set as I wanted the 2 & 1 sovs so moving on the 1/2 & 1/4 on here. 1/2 - £235 1/4 - £120 Offer: Buy both for £350 ***Ideally would like to sell both to same buyer so offers for both coins take precedence until 1pm today, then happy to sell them on their own.*** RMSD full insured included in price. Selling as bullion. BT or PPF&F Thanks for looking 👍
  3. Think that’s an error in Marsh Spink shows 992 and these coins crop up fairly regularly so I’m inclined to believe the mintage is well over 113!
  4. 1979 Proof Sovereign for sale - £435 delivered The first affordable proof sovereign available for QEII (there are a few Gillick proofs but these are 5 figure coins and essentially unobtainable for the 1953!) PF70 examples of the 1979s trade in the mid £2ks so a lot of value here in the 69 at £435. RMSD included in price BT or PPF&F Thanks for looking 👍
  5. 1979 Proof Sovereign for sale - £sold delivered The first affordable proof sovereign available for QEII (there are a few gillick proofs but these are 5 figure coins and essentially unobtainable for the 1953!) Selling as bullion - I bought to see if it was a grading candidate but the odd mark and toning so not worth it but a nice coin to stack or for anybody doing a date run. RMSD included in price Thanks for looking 👍 @DanPie
  6. For bullion sovs, get yourself a set of sovereign scales - for example: https://www.sovereigncellar.co.uk/antique-crown-branded-brass-sovereign-rocker--coin-scale-2451-p.asp They test thickness, diameter and weight for sovs and 1/2 sovs in a very easy to use format. Combined with a magnet test and reviewing the appearance of the coin it should give you a decent level of certainty. Of course you can then go further down the verification route with the sigma tools or the professional methods at jewellers/LCS but as long as you are buying from trusted sources and using the above techniques I think you're 99% likely to OK.
  7. 1979 Proof Sovereign for sale - £sold delivered The first affordable proof sovereign available for QEII (there are a few gillick proofs but these are 5 figure coins and essentially unobtainable for the 1953!) Selling as bullion - I bought to see if it was a grading candidate but a few hairlines and toning so I'm not going to try, but a nice coin to stack or for anybody doing a date run. RMSD included in price Thanks for looking 👍
  8. Personally a fan of the proofs as you get the cameo which really shows of the designs (eg the 2012 Paul Day reverse doesn’t work well on the bullions but looks stunning on the proofs). The 69s trade deeply discounted to the 70s and also I’ve seen them trade below the price of the raw coin as at least there’s some ‘hope value’ in the raw! For a value focused buyer the 69s will get you all the same designs for 25% - 30% less and look exactly the same to the naked eye. They will probably not be as easy to sell and not see the same appreciation over time as the 70s though.
  9. Maybe aim to do the special years first? 89/02/05/12/16/17/22J/22M/23 ? In current market I’d guess you’d be able to source (ballpark) in PF70 for: 89 - 1800 02 - 1250 05 - 1250 12 - 1800 16 - 1700 17 - 1700 22J - 1100-1200 22M - 1000 23 - 1100 they tend not to be particularly linked to spot, more the demand for the design and the mintage plus general market sentiment but the special years have tended to hold their value and grow steadily over the long run.
  10. In a 2002 4 coin sovereign set I bought. had a little cry over the prices then vs now!
  11. Spot on this is now £851.46 so it’s at a premium of 0.65% to metal value…! bump
  12. With spot moving up these are 1.5% over metal value so I’m surprised too. People paying 4-5% premiums for bullion sovs and dirt cheap cgt exempt proofs available here for less!
  13. 2017 gold proof £1 for sale. 17.72g of 22k —> 16.24g of gold at £51.76/g = spot value of £840.58. 2% premium = £857 all in RMSD Included BT or PPF&F Box & CoA included as per pics Selling as bullion Thanks for looking 👍
  14. Cracking design on this one, CGT exempt and priced close to spot - what’s not to like? 19.619g of 22k = 17.984g actual gold 17.984 x £51.76/gram (spot) = £931 gold at spot. At a 2% premium that comes to £949 all in. RMSD included. BT or PPF&F Comes with box & CoA. Selling as bullion. Thanks for looking 👍
  15. Completely agree with Orpster - track record is very supportive long term for the price growth of the special years. I've seen PF70 memorial sovs trading around the £500-550 mark and PF70 coronations £550-600. I think if you picked them up at those prices, bunged them in a safe for 5-10 years and then came back odds are you would be pleasantly surprised at how they had done. Dont pay retail price for them though - second hand bargains in top grade at PF70 is the way forward for these two releases until the market settles down.
