closed 1kg silver bar

Hey guys.

 

it’s been a while since I’ve been on the forum and I have a question.

 

i was wondering what can i expect to pay here for a 1kg bar of silver?

I know we pay VAT on silver in the U.K. and I wondered if this is taken into account when buying second hand or not?

 

I made some purchases 11 months ago here and found the community both friendly and helpful.

Expect to pay around 10 percent over spot on kilos. That would be around £690 although Arschimo had some for £675 today.

Don't quote me on this but i think you would only pay VAT (here in the UK) on new purchases.  I think most of the items listed here will be considered second-hand.

Thanks for the reply. I’m just doing some research about resale vs spot etc but that does sound like a great deal!

It's true that you don't have to pay VAT on second-hand (only on any increase in value by a dealer, under the "special scheme"). However, given that the price of buying "new" is 20% higher that will generally lead sellers to price their second-hand silver similarly higher due to simple supply and demand.

Whilst you don't pay vat on second hand market, somebody has paid it..therefore you can expect to pay around 10-12% above spot currently ( depending on demand)

I’m a little nervous about purchasing 1kg without coa if I’m honest (which I am haha).

please help alleviate my concerns hehe. 
 

also, if and when I come to sell others may not want to buy from me since my reputation here is new. My eBay account of 18 years is 100% however 😀

I can understand your nerves but remember it's easier to fake a coa than it is a bar and these bars from @arshimo2012 are a great price especially for metalor and will definitely be genuine from a highly trusted member of the forum.

About kilo bars, there are coming very often for sale on forum from @£660 up to @£700, depending of brand and seller. Don't be afraid to buy them without COA from forum. When the time to sell will come, you can say from who you bought it and you are safe.
