Gold content - how many 1/10 Brits = 1 Sovereign?

With regard to the actual gold content, how many 1/10th Britannias equate to one sovereign.

I am talking purely the gold value, not the value of the coins themselves.

Thanks.

7.32g ÷ by 3.11g = 2.35 1/10ths

Thank you - it is obviously easy when you know how🌞🌞

I find these things easier to work out if you start with how many ounces of fine gold there are in a sovereign.

One sovereign contains about 0.2354 oz of pure gold, and a 1/10th oz coin is of course 0.1 oz of pure gold.  So you would need 2.354 lots of 1/10 oz coins for the same amount of pure gold as a sovereign.

@James32's way of doing it by grams works well too, of course 🙂

If you wanted to whole sovereigns, then 12 x 1/10 is near enough the equivalent of 5 sovereigns.

Thank you, I might have the opportunity to swap some sovs for little brits. I have developed a liking for these tiddlers 🌞

Thank you, it’s really useful to understand the different ways 🌞

What about half sovereign, They are just a little bit bigger then a 1/10.  3.66g to 3.11g. Why not put the 1/10 in your gauge and you'll be able to see the size difference.

I do have half sovs, but there is something engaging about these tiny coins!!
When my gauge arrives, hopefully tomorrow, I shall test it out 🌞

The detail is fab, I love the special reverse coins and will be able to get my mitts on some including a couple of proof specials at base price (or less hopefully)🥳

You are right, the details are great, on something to small.

What coin is that? It is beautiful, it has the nautical elements too.
