I either want to cry or jump up and down in excitement for what a sov'll be worth in 10 years time.

I bet the tax bracket doesn't move with the price.

I recently made a (not huge) order of b grade sovereigns from Chards.  I expected to wait maybe a month but I got an email saying 4-6 months.  Is this normal?

I learnt my lesson a year ago. I never buy anything that's "orderable" from Chards. I only purchase items "in stock". It took 12 weeks for one minty full sovereign to arrive. I still purchase regularly from Chards and their service is top notch however I don't like waiting so long for investment products to arrive so in this particular case thankfully it was just one sovereign not a tube.

You can also give them a call before placing an order for "orderable" products and they will give you a heads up.

I can see a middle ground that could be good for both sides, or not. You order some orderable items, and put, say a, 10% deposit. The price is locked in and so is a time, 3-6 months? End of that time and still nothing in stock, you get your money back, or can spend it on other things at the same price as when the order was placed.

Might work?
