Hi all,

Hope you had a great Xmas day.

Just been asked about some coins that look really old. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about them.

I've searched the internet for some answers and found similar.

Thanks

Not much knowledge is necessary.

It is clearly George III, made of copper, and the date 1797 is just about decipherable.

Whether it is a penny or a twopence is more difficult from a photo, but  if you either weigh it or measure it, you will be able to tell which.

We have some in similar condition in our scrap copper bucket.

As always, better grade ones are much more desirable, for example:

https://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=twopenceindx.html

But I see we omitted to state the diameter on those two old pages.
