Moral Standards (Breaking up sets)

just to add my tuppence.  dont break up a set!   i hate seeing these proofs/coins of whatever denomination or metal being sold singly on ebay with no coa or :ahem: proof then i just dont trust it is what it says it is.

i understand the reasoning in a way but those those who collect whole sets of buncs/proof/silver proof/gold proof/silver brits/gold brits/sovs (me) will curse the breakers in more ways than can be imagined.

its yours. do what you want with it.... sets must have greater value than the sum parts surely.. ?

but what do I know.. I like bullion and so called 'vintage' American silver from the er. 80's.

Personally don't see the point to silver brit sets, other than to make profit for the mint.

I did collect every year though, up until a couple of years ago. Storage is a pain of course so I displayed the 1 oz and left the others in the boxes in a cupboard somewhere.

The smaller ones, especially the tiny ones, aren't worth a jot as most of them are horribly tarnished. The sets haven't held their value at all and can usually be picked up these days for a song.

Can you find me a 1997 set for a song?

Happy to be corrected and depending what a song is.

Paid under £200 for mine and all 4 coins are mint.

The sets are currently ranging from around £240 up to £300 plus. The individual 1oz proof in box and with coa is fetching more than the set.🤔🫢
