Double Soveriegn ???

How comes a double sovereign costs more than two single sovereigns? Surely if you scale up it should work out cheaper ?

A lot of doubles are proofs.

I've often wondered this myself. Maybe because the number produced will invariably be less than the single sovereign?

I guess it depends on where you buy them...Last year I picked up some bullion grade 2021 doubles sov from a Melbourne bullion dealer for less than the value of 2 x 2021 singles..Guess I got lucky on that.

Weird, as long as comparing 1 sovereign and double sovereign selling by the same dealer, the double should be cheaper.  However, at this moment, not many dealers are offering 2022 double sovereign, so maybe it distorts the pricing.
