The heavier the wieght of said bar the cheaper it is on premium.

Yeah I get that, it makes sense on a pretty intuitive level with economies of scale. I just don't get why a Baird ounce costs less than a Pamp ounce, but I think @modofantasma has cleared that up for me, thanks.

Echos of above; get TSF membership and scour the forum. If you're after pretty minted bars they're always about, but if you want cast bars too there's been quite a lot on here recently. The SMP bars from Sheffield were being sold in the ~£21-£22 p/oz range.

Also look through the dealer's sites and set stock alerts for what you're after. There are many dealers but to use a very active member here as an example Chards do dealer margin secondary market silver and their stock alert system works well.

Coins are going for a reasonable rate in tubes on the forum sales section as well, obviously it's more outlay in one go but you can net a good deal one month and skip the next as a suggestion. They also mean you can sell on in increments should you need to liquidate some of your holdings quickly for any reason.

If it's pure weight you're after currency silver is often for sale at spot or close to it. A kilo of 50% shillings is harder to store than a kilo of .999 bars but it's an option to consider.

Enjoy your shiny stuff.
