Hello all, newbie here . question on tarnish

Hello all

New member, here first time posting

I'm posting because I recently have been starting to stack silver in lieu of the impending financial crisis.

I purchased five 1 oz silver kangaroos on eBay.  I paid $140 with free shipping.

I got them today and 3 of them show tarnish on the edges. I did not notice the tarnish on the pictures before committing to buy.

Should I ask for a partial refund?

Or does it not really matter?

Hi Silverfox, welcome to the Silver Forum.

You could certainly claim the item was “not as described” if the tarnishing isn’t mentioned in the listing description. It’s really a matter of if you can be bothered.

$140 isn’t a bad price for bullion so personally i would leave it, but if you think it will bother you then it might be worth messaging the seller to see if they’re willing to do anything.

Hello and welcome :) you came to the right place. There's so many clued up guys on here.

As @Aiden2343 said this is not a huge premium as far as I can see so I would leave it, too. Because it's a simple bullion coin you are unlikely to get more than spot for it anyway when you sell. I've also seen a lot of these coins with milk spots round the edges so if I'm right they seem to be fated to end up ugly anyway :). My first batch of Britannias were messed up, too. I like to think it's a bonus to start ugly. This way you don't get the heartbreak later on if they take a turn on you.

Just make sure if you do get some beauties later on that you handle them with love and care and gloves. And if they're really special put them in capsules so you can kiss them goodnight. At least I think that's what the capsules are for. It's what mine are for.

Enjoy your time here :)
