New to Acquiring Gold and Silver

Hi Everyone on the Forum .Thank you for allowing me to join the forum .I am new to acquiring Gold and Silver .Started out with Gold which looks fairy straightforward.Silver looks more complicated .Still on a steep learning curve and amazed at the mark up being requested on silver  .Looking and learning .

I am thinking this silver market  has been in the doldrums far to long and is about to , and possibly has taken off (hopefully).Rather than hunting around for bits and pieces on a slow stack (which i am sure many members have already done) and miss the boat what is the general opinion of any members  familiar with the dealings of silver (indeed  willing to give opinion) to a my idea as a newbie jumping in and buying a monster box of 500 silver Britannias to get in  before the silver boat sets sail .Am I being too hasty? My main criteria is not particularly to make  money but to retain value in an asset that isn't in the banking and equity cassino as I see all sorts of things  going  bust  worse than 2008. Britannias seem to me a safe bet.

Does that make sence?

Any comments good and bad gratefully received
